Hi! Welcome to my blog! My name is Jane (PlainJane) and I am the blessed and happy wife to Jeff and doubly blessed mama of two perfectly wonderful daughters. Please join me as I share our Lifestyle of Learning through Christian homeschooling and homesteading on our little hobby farm with our prairie girls.
Amber (Bookworm) is our dd15/10th grader.
Our perfectionist and over-achiever. She loves reading, playing violin, all things vintage, riding her Paint horse, and being a farm girl.
Anna (Ladybug)
is our dd12/7th grader.
Our "girls just want to have fun" girl. She loves to play and has a great sense of humor, but also enjoys cooking, music, and riding her QH pony.
Usually our horse trainer comes around 2:30 p.m., but because of the extreme heat of yesterday and now today again (a feels like temp. of 100 to 105), we are expecting her around 8:00 a.m. so we can get our lesson in before it heats up too much. The rest of the day we will probably be spending it mostly in the basement (where there is no computer ) where it's cool. We will be out misting the horses a couple of times today too to help cool them down
...and the forecasters were predicting a cooler than normal summer. (I love it when God shows them who's boss). lol
I'm really thankful for this heat - I'm thawing out from our extremely cold winter and spring. Now if we could just get a bit more rain.
Wow, Jane, you really have extreme temperature fluctuations there don't you. As hot as it has been here, I still dread the winter. If we don't get some sort of direct heat source for the kitchen and pantry area, I'll be miserable again :(. Praying already for God's provision.
Corey
We are having a very heated time too, but fortunately have been blessed with tons of rain. It feels like a rain forest in Indy, with all of the humidity. Your poor horses. Glad that you mist them, makes them happy!
Blessings, Karen
Wow, that is warm. We are still only barely getting into the 80's. Maybe we'll get warmer soon. Glad you at least have a basement. We have to turn the air on when it gets that hot. :)
JoAnn
Hope you're enjoying the heat and keeping cool!
Thank you for all of the comments lately, so sorry I've been so quite with them. ;o) It's been so busy!
Thank you for the belated birthday wishes. I enjoyed having my brother here, that was an additional blessing.
The pattern for the pelisse I made, I got from Sense & Sensibility Patterns, which is, also, where the regency gown pattern comes from.
I hope you are enjoying your summer!
Hello, again!
I just came across another comment from you where you asked about the envelopes we used with Ally's announcements. We ordered them (and the announcements) through Vistaprint. There was an option to have the envelopes personalized. I'm so tickled that you noticed! I'm hoping others did, too!
Hi Jane,
Just thought I'd stop by real quick and say hi.
I hope you are staying cool and enjoying your kids in the basement.
My internet has not been working very well -
I get on for a few seconds and if I'm lucky, I might get to post something, but then it quickly dies out on me. I haven't been able to pop by and visit before now, it's been really difficult.
It's really hot here, too. And our air cond. wasn't working - do you have a.c.? I am thinking you don't if you need to hang out in the basement to stay cool.
HAve a great weekend!
Your friend,
Antoinette
Hi Jane,
No, those horses in the kitchen window picture are not my new babies. I do have pictures, I just haven't put a post together yet. It is one of those things that is important to me, so I wanted it to be extra nice - but that takes time, and I haven't had that much extra!
I also thought I'd like to post a s&t on it, but I don't ever s&t unless I have the time to respond to all the other show and tellers, and my weekends have not been open to blogging. And I have also had a lot of connection problems. But I do hope for this coming week to finally post about the babies! Their adorable.
Hi Jane again:)
I just read your other reply to my post about the eggs... yes, we are always finding ways that we are a lot alike. I think that's neat. And were both note takers!
I just finished reading this weekend, Hell's Best Kept Secret, by Ray Comfort. Wow, was it fantastic. Have you read it?
Your sense of humor always makes me smile. The same people that go to chuckie cheeses go to your laundromat :)
It's nice to know someone else has a porch like mine. I thought I was the only one and I was feeling rather hill-billy about it. I never had this problem before this year.
THe internet problem is a long story - it's the connection, not the provider. The good news is that I don't get to spend much time on the internet - a blessing in disguise!
The lake - yes we are going there. The not so fun news is that my dh decided we should sell the cottage given the economy and the future prospect of everything. A wise decision, I know, yet, kind of a downer. But for now, were still going until a sale.
Antoinette
I used to be a big fan of Little House on the Prairie and I must say your pictures look just like the TV series! Your house looks idyllic and I love to read how you are homeschooling your daughters. Here in Europe, we don't have that many homeschooling families, you are truly blessed. We have just posted an article on our website about the many difficulties homeschoolers must face in the UK. I would love to read your opinion about it. If you wish to read it and share some words of knowledge, go to http://www.networkhomeschool.com
You can also post a link to your blog in your profile page, if you wish to do so. Thank you for the inspiring words; hopefully you will have some advice for us on the other side of the pond, thank you, Anna
