Hi! Welcome to my blog! My name is Jane (PlainJane) and I am the blessed and happy wife to Jeff and doubly blessed mama of two perfectly wonderful daughters. Please join me as I share our Lifestyle of Learning through Christian homeschooling and homesteading on our little hobby farm with our prairie girls.

~ The Simple Woman's Daybook - Monday, September 21st, 2009 ~

For Today, Monday,  September 21st, 2009

Outside My Window
... it's 6:00 a.m., and still pitch black out.  It looks like we might get some rain by the radar - I hope it doesn't fizzle out like usual.  After a couple weeks of glorious rain a few weeks ago, we are back in drought mode and sure could use the rain.  We have been having unseasonably warm weather this month -- it was in the 80's and very humid last week and still forecasting low to mid 70's this week.  The average high for today is 69.

I'm thinking...lots to do this week!

From the learning rooms...
NOTHING!!!  Woohoo!  We follow the agricultural season and since harvest time is finally upon us (normally we would have been done by now, but with the late, cool, dry summer, everything is late this year), it's time to work hard...picking and canning tomatoes, digging up potatoes, pulling and drying onions, picking apples.  Not only that but this is our first official Wednesday night as Awana Cubbie leaders and we are getting things ready for that and the girls are now involved in Bible Quizzing at church and this Thursday will be the first time the team meets.  Lot's of Scripture memory going on - Amen!

I am thankful for...a good church that believes in and teaches God's Word.

From the kitchen...
M - Chicken
T - Amber's Choice
W - Pancakes
TH - Lasagna
F - Out to eat with Grandma

I am wearing...
my jammies - will get ready as soon as I finish this.

I am reading...
Thru the Bible Each Year: OT: Ecclesiastes; NT: 2 Corinthians, KJB;
and Cubbies material

I am hoping... all goes well this week and we get a lot accomplished;  it seems rather overwhelming right now.

I am creating...
 a fun Cubbies year plan.

I am hearing... a distant train whistle blowing as it moves on down the tracks; and an owl hooting.

Around the house & barn... the bees are many on our Russian sage plants; lots of dust from the drought.

One of my favorite things... eatting fresh organic produce from our farm.

I am going... to finally drop off our Science books at Office Max to get them comb bound & buy a new white board for our Cubbies classroom; post office; library.

A few plans for the rest of the week...harvest; canning;
horse riding lessons; AWANA Cubbies; Bible Quizzing meeting; go to grandma's Friday - Jeff will take down her screened porch for the year and help with a few other things around her place.

A picture thought I am sharing with you
...

That's all for today!
Thanks for stopping!  Warm Wishes for
a Wonderful Week!
Much thanks to our hostess Peggy for the Simple Woman's Daybook.

Happy Last Day Of Summer, we are on Our Fall Break this week. Hope to get in some canning done and then get the house picked up... been trying to clean for a while now but when you got birds of a feather needing their homes built well the homekeeping gets put to the way side... Anyhoot... I hope you are having a wonderful Monday may you get the rain you all need...

I hope you get your rain, Jane! It is pouring down as I write and it rained a little through the night as well. I know you will be such a blessing to those Cubbies! Love the photo of Scripture. Have a fine week of harvesting!

It started raining here about five this morning. The thunder woke my husband and me up and of course we were up for the day ( a little early for my taste). But I enjoy rain, and was glad to see it. My husband just got some hay cut, so I don't know as he was as glad...but it will dry.
Thanks for inviting me over, such a wonderfully done blog and I'm looking forward to coming back and reading about the canning and produce you're going to be "putting up" for the winter. I too love fresh produce and hope to have an even bigger garden next year.
We used to be very involved in AWANA at our old church but we moved and our current church is too small to carry the program.
I too hear about you from Sally and read your comments at her blog. She's a wise and discerning woman and I'm so honored to call her one of my blog friends.
Thanks for "friending" me and have a wonderfully blessed week, Julie

Good Morning,
You are smart to take a week off for gardening. With out family's wedding we are under the gun with school. Yesterday we took all the tomatoes and I canned our marinara sauce. We still have some left in the garden and even a few green ones. Our third planting of beans is coming in strong. Gardening is wonderful with Septembers like this!
I always am encouraged with your posts and your heart. Keep up the good work with your sweet girls.

It was so much fun doing my first canning last week. Don't know if I could do as much as you do, but I had fun with what I did. Hope you get yours all done. :)
