You Capture/Old Signs

This was actually a lot of fun. They are hiding everywhere. Unfortunately a lot are 1/2 covered by a modern sign.

First ones I found were a grain elevator (not sooc, tweeked a little)

Then I made it to Main Street.

I have always liked this one and think that thing on top looks like a robot!

And this is a old theater that is still up and running.

I just love old buildings. Why can't we build them like this anymore?
(this is not sooc I played a little)
This was next to this theater.
And across the street.  (not sooc either)

But these are 2 of my favorite old signs. In the little town I live in. From the history I have found the partner to Cooper Hardware lived in my house many  many years ago. This building is about all I know about him. I hear he was a bachelor.

My First Paying Photo Shoot

She is paying me a casserole/Meal. I get more practice and a night off of cooking. Works for me!
This was her favorite one.

I should have gotten her knees in it more.

Attempt at black and white. She didn't really want it b and w so I didn't go into Andrea's tutorial and try to do it right.

You Capture/You

First I tried a standard photo. But they were almost all totally blurry.
I saw this idea on popphoto but after several shots I decided I was being a bad example to my children.
Plus I didn't want to mess up my bed. LOL  (please ignore my bad cloning on the wall)

So then my children and I had some fun with the remote and trying to capture some jumping and fun! LOL

Poor Man's Macro

My son was reading Boy's Quest April/May 2009 copy, which is the Photography issue.

 In it they had an idea to use bolts, washers, wing nuts, nuts, magnifying glass and wood to make a camera able to take macro photos. He took it a step farther and made it so his can tilt and angle.
Here it is...

If you want to make one you will need.
 1 board any size; he used 11 X 13;
solid maple scraps

 1 carriage bolt 5/16  length 6 to 10";
 1 5/16, 2 " long bolt;
1 5/16, 1 1/2" long bolt;
5 -  1" washers;
2- 3/4" washes;
4 wing nuts to fit your bolt;
1 locking washer;
1 5/16 nut

1 camera to try it out. A point and shoot is fine.

Here a are his results. First a normal photo

And then Macro.
If you need better information just holler.

Shapes/ You Capture

I started off with this. I loved that many shapes were in this one object. Then I was taking photos and my son got attacked by this.
You can't see it but my son is holding his tail with a glove.He was HUGE. The length of my sons hand. He bite my son with his huge jaws. So I decided to get his photo up close if I could.
But when I was looking at the close ups I was noticing the shapes on this guy. The ovals, squares and rectangles. These Macro photos were brightened in PhotoImpact to see the details better.
The awesome intricate squares on the wings.
My 10 yr old said they looked like stained glass windows.

Here is a photo of the dragonfly with my sons help. We could not let go of him or he would attack us. So my 12 yr old son wore gloves to help me with the photo shoot. I just cropped him out of the photos. The dragonfly kept curling up and biting my son over and over. But the gloves kept him safe.

 Ok these shapes entertain my guys for hours on end. And my sons keep them all neat and tidy!
They each have their own tacklebox full of their own.

Triangle Tomato Cages
Round Tomatoes
This photo was edited to fix the sky from grey to blue. Thought I'de try a different perspective. Although I thought I was stuck afterwards. LOL Had to get a child to help me back up.

Here is the tee pee the real way. I have vines growing on it in the herb garden.

You Capture/Photographers Choice

Oh Dear was Mommy supposed to take pictures?
(This photo was messed with in PhotoImpact to try to remove yellow cast and sharpen that cute face a tad.)
She's busy trying to figure out how to take indoor no flash photos with her new 50mm 1/4 lense.
She did have fun in macro this week!
But mostly she's struggling with a yellow cast to the photos indoors. Anyone with any suggestions?
Stats...Metering-Matrix, shutter 1/60, Apeture F1.4, Exposure mode Manuel, Exp, =2.0 50mm, no flash, I did have my Hoya uv filter on.

Then Mom took of the filter to see if that was causing it...

Then Mom moved to a new room to see if it's the room

Then went back to the first room again.

And this is the first one sooc

Macro Photography

 I got a new Macro Lense. SORTA. Actually I achieved these results using my new 50mm af-s Nikkor 1.4 with a General Brand Reverse Adapter Nikon to 52mm plus General Brand 58-52 Step-down Ring. Basically you take your lense attach it to the step down ring which is attached to the adaptor. You can not focus manually. You have to move yourself closer and farther away. Which can get nausiating.  We found it impossible to get a clear shot holding the camera. So I used a tripod.

NOTE: If you have any of the other Nikkor 50mm you probably would not need the step down ring. (Your lense cap should be 52mm. But the new lens they made take a larger ring. The camera store could tell you for sure. I personally am very satisified with Bhphotovideo.com

Summer/ You Capture

Summer is a lot of things. My beautiful Momosia (sp) tree gives me it's wonderful firecracker blossoms.

The grass grows green and lush. Of course then it needs to be mowed.

My sons playing with frogs and toads. (This one is a frog)

Wanting to see them fly! LOL

And another view for my son! :)

(I won't say how many shots it took to catch him BLURRY at that, jumping!

But best of all we get to catch Fireflies every night.

Weekly Challenge/Nature/You Capture

This challenge was easy. The hard part was to quite taking pictures.
First of the easiest subject, flowers. God surrounds us in beauty.

I love Roses!!! This one is called Joseph's Coat, it's a climbing rose. I think it's beautiful.

This is an antique rose that has been growing on my property for at least 25 years.

Another antique its from the bush below.

This is the full bush. It is 6 ft tall and gorgeous!

And a rose bud is a a promise from God for things to come.

Purple Coneflowers

Wildflowers on the side of the road.

And God gives us trees to keep us warm.

And animals to feed us.

And wheat to give us bread.
Can't decide if I like the bokeh one or the sharp one best.
