The mirror has to go; It doesn't do me any good
Reflecting broken dreams and expectations never reached
And all these people with their perfect lives
Try to tell me how much I screwed up mine
And I don't want you anymore
You left me broken on the floor
Take your lies with you and leave me
Like you did before
Give me back the things I gave
They were never yours to take
One day you'll realize you want me
Well it's your mistake
Dictated into escape; Rebellion makes me what I hate
When did the price of independence become so great
Looking back I see I compromised myself for you
Giving up what I believed in because you asked me to
And all these people with their perfect lives
Try to tell me how I should fix mine

I have an idea.
since my life isn't perfect ---THEN I GET TO TELL YOU WHAT TO DO!!
basically, everyone always tells you what you should be doing.
and mothers never stop.
My mother is STILL telling me what I should do. (once she insisted that I needed code locks on my front door so that you punch in numbers on the doorknob to get in-ha!)
and you have to learn to just push back and weigh it. Is this RIGHT? Are they telling you because they KNOW you and they CARE? or do they think they are always right?
and do they have a good point? is it convincing if it weren't YOU?
Once you decide if you agree or disagree, you just have to dismiss it or it will torment you. But don't let them in your head. Only YOU stand before God for your life and so you are the one responsible. Thank them for their input and then make your own decision.
(SEE? Even in THAT I am telling you what to do---even as I mean to free you. and even with this---you decide to discard or consider.)
