Some of your information is incorrect.
It's a barber and his partner (In a business sense, though she wants to marry him).
And it isn't guts, it's blood, and it has a deeper meaning.
The blood stands for Todd's rage and letting go of sanity.
There's isn't any "other stuff" either, though there was some in the play.
And the plot is awesome, thank you very much.
I will now attempt to completely explain it to you,
with your permission to leave a really long comment.
Also, I told you.
I like it for it's passion and plot and music.
Not just for the actors.

Really?
Some people love gore.
Though I am not one of them, I still am just putting that out there.
I handle the gore, because I love...well, I've already told you.
Seriously? Hmmm...that's weird.
Wait, you're on Facebook?!
Okay, explaining:
Benjamin Barker is looking for revenge, after falsely charged and sentenced to a life of hard labor by Judge Tupin, because the Judge wants
Benjamin Barker's beautiful wife for himself.
Barker comes back to London, after escaping and being at sea, where he met Anthony.
He goes back to his old house in London, which has been made into a unsuccessful pie shop by Mrs. Lovett.
She recognizes him, though he introduces himself as Sweeney Todd.
He tells her after all those years of pain, he became a new man, one named Sweeney Todd.
Mrs. Lovett tells him that his wife poisoned herself,
and his daughter is now the Judge's ward.
She let's him use his old barber shop upstairs,
and then they meet Adolfo Pirelli,
who turns out to be Sweeney's former barber assistant,
and tries to black mail him.
Sweeney beats him to unconsciousness with a kettle, and puts him in a trunk, where he later kills him.
Pirelli had brought along his barber assistant, named Toby, and he now works in Mrs. Lovetts shop.
Mrs. Lovett and Sweeney wonder what to do with the body, and they decide to start killing people and put them into meat pies.
Then there's a whole subplot his Anthony and Sweeney's daughter Joanna, and how the Judge wants to marry Joanna.
Eventually the Judge gets killed, along with a crazy beggar women who was up in Sweeney shop screaming about Mrs. Lovett and how she was the Devil's wife.
Todd goes down stairs to kill Toby, since he now knows what's in the pies, and figures out that the Beggar women was his wife.
He kills Mrs. Lovett for lying to him, and then bends over his wife, singing to her.
He had dropped his razor, and Toby comes out of hiding and picks it up, then he slips Todd's neck.
The end.
I condensed it quite a bit, but that's about it.
Sorry for the super long comment, but I wanted to give you the whole story.

I'm not on Facebook, it's kind of...I don't know.
Facebook, Myspace, they have their looming scary-ness.
Does that make sense?

How do you mean?
I don't really understand what you're saying... .
I meant that Myspace and Facebook are
kind of...I don't know...full of too much information?
People also can get pretty creepy on there.
There have been waaaaay too many articles with scary stories about websites like that for me to ever want to get one.
Though, my mom would never let me get one anyway.
