Oct. 6, 2009 - Yes I know its been a long time.
I've been gone awhile...and to think I use to post 4-5 times a week on here. It was good times, especially with the great friends I had on here, like Redsox24, Outloud, Godzwilla, and others.
I have a new blog here.

I would have commented before now on your Jimmy Carter post but it didn't seem to work. How do you comment on blogspot?
Why is there a big uproar about calling the president a liar? I don't think there'd be such a uproar in Australia. Maybe some noise in the parliamentary sitting, but virtually nothing after that! Do Americans elevate their presidents so high that that would be libel?
I've moved onto wordpress now myself "joshualetchford.wordpress.com" and I'm trying to find my way around. What's your experience with a new blog outside HSB?

I think you have to be careful going too far left or right- as you're saying the Democrats are too far left, I suspect Howard (Australia's last Prime Minister) lost partly because he became too far right-wing.
If 40% of Americans are conservatives, and only 20% are liberals, then Obama must have convinced nearly all moderates to vote for him. How do you envisage the Republicans attracting moderates' votes by going further right-wing?
Mind you- I think you are right. The Republicans can't win votes by being another Democrats party. But moderates are normally the key voting bloc, so you can't ignore them.
P.S. I'm commenting on here because I still can't manage to comment on your blogspot blog! I tried both a OpenID and a wordpress identity, but when I click post comment, it shows a preview with a word verification which I don't know what to do with. Do you know what's going on?

what are you up to now? have you completely abandoned HBS?
I practically have, but sorta because of fb and sorta because I am avoiding people i know in real life (they're on fb too, THERE IS NO ESCAPE!!!!!)
how's the weather down there?
it's been freezing up here but the past four days have been nice. I'm not the most reliable source for the temp though...apparently because a 'freeze baby' not sure if that's good or not =P
