Aelsa Is Baptized

This past Sunday Aelsa stood before a gathering of family and friends and a constant flow of casual observers along the shores of Lake Michigan and declared her faith in Jesus Christ, being baptized into his death and resurrection.

Our celebration included a self-catered luncheon of baked penne in marinara and/or chicken salad with whole wheat rolls, tossed salad, and various desserts contributed by some of our gracious friends.  My mother-in-law was wonderful in managing the serving table throughout, not to mention following the meal.  Thanks so much, Carol!

The events of the baptism itself can be enjoyed through the photos and comments on Paul's blog.  One of the things that he doesn't mention, however, is the beautiful baptism certificate he designed so that all who witnessed her baptism could add their signature, testifying to her public declaration of Christ's saving work in her life.  Maybe one of us will post a photo of it later.

It was remarkable for me to listen to her speak before the assembly; her ability to address a large group of people helped me catch a glimpse of the strong young woman she is becoming to be.

We're facing a time of transition now; one in which her motivation for godly living is directed less toward merely trying to please her earthly father and more toward living to please her Heavenly Father as she relies on the Holy Spirit and the revealed Word to discern His will.  Norm Wakefield has an excellent article addressing this in the Affirmation of Daughters series of his Chariot of Fire Newsletter.

I am so grateful for God's blessing on the day.  I pray in gratitude for God's continued blessing on His daughter, Aelsa Pearl.

from Ephesians 4:

1 I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, 2 with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, 3 endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. 4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism; 6 one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

What a blessing to see this eternal fruit in her life.
