Lead on
I'm discovering that inspiration comes from out of nowhere. I actually had several different things planned for my next post, and this wasn't one of any of them.
I'm listening right now to Mat Kearney singing "Nothing Left to Lose". This post really isn't about the song, even though it is a beautiful song, but it's about what the song made me think of.
Following Jesus can be a wild ride. I don't know about you, but there have been times when I've been hit, even just briefly, by the sheer excitement of looking ahead to see what God has planned for me next. Imagine living your life like that, where every day brings new revelation of what God is doing in and around you for your good.
A missionary I heard once said that his life is pretty simple. He is running up a twisty path, and at every turn he sees the back of God going around the next turn, so he runs ahead to catch another glimpse. That's how I want to live my life.
Not easy, I know, but who can tell where we'll end up if we follow like this? And what if we find we've left behind everything we used to think important, and find ourselves in the midst of real meaning, right behind God running up the trail. Sound good to you? What if we asked God to just lead on? |
