In the hands of the True Aslan

The children and I are finishing up the Narnia stories. You know, I read those books over and over as a child and never "got" the Christian references. Now I read them to my children and literally choke up with Lewisian pangs of joy from time to time. My children don't understand why I weep at the illustrations of providence in A Horse and His Boy. They can't figure out why Reepicheep's pure passion for finding Aslan's country makes him one of my favorite characters. They haven't the context to know why Eustace's transformation rends my own heart with gratitude. Tomorrow night I'll be overcome with a joyful ache at the exhortation to come "further up and further in!" Tomorrow they may not understand why. Someday they will, and their innocent love of these wonderful stories and their simple love of the Lord will interact in a magical way...and they'll weep, and shout with joy, with me.

I wanted to get started on reading all of the books, but then we started in with THE MOVE, and it consumed all of our time.
If you are still doing this blog, be sure to add me to your friends, as I no longer have my other blog. Thanks!

We wore out 2 sets of Narnia Stories-cause the kids pick them up again over the years of homeschooling. We are collecting the G.A. Henty books and some of The LampLighter Series (reprinted early american books) Our library grows over the years-as folks know that is what we like and will make donations! We trade books with relatives and christian friends too. Quality books are a blessing! I enjoyed your blog! Loretta

Hello!
My 21 year old daughter has read most of C.S Lewis's books! And she loved them! I really liked the movie Chronicles of Narnia! What kind eyes the King of the Jungle had! :-)

God bless you,

Donna O from HK.
You know, when i was about 19 or 20, I picked up a copy of The Lion,The Witch, and The Wardrobe. I wept at the "picture" of God's love! I thought that *I* had found a masterpiece and that truly, this book should be famous! HA! What a naive semi-new Christian I was.
To this day, we weep as a family reading when Aslan dies. We are so somber when we read of the "one" that does not make it farther up and farther in (don't want to give a spoiler!). Lewis has such a way of getting deep into the heart and yet, it does not wrench but gently lead the reader to the truth of our need and His love!
You have such a nice blog:0). Adding you to my friends! You are welcome to do the same, though I am not as profound as most blogs!
