Do NOT be afraid of SUDDEN FEAR...
I have a small window of time, so I thought I would post on 'current events'. Every day we are hearing "scary" news, businesses closing, banks failing, stocks falling, etc. There seems to be a lot of reason to BE AFRAID or even ANXIOUS about the future...think tomorrow. But, in Proverbs 3:25 God says, "Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh." Verse 26 continues, "For the LORD shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken." This is our creator speaking, the ONE and ONLY GOD. This is not just a suggestion for our thoughts and actions, but a command. I have quoted Psalm 46:1-3 before. God's word is true. (Psalm 12:6) If you have turned to Him, recognizing your need for Him, acknowledging and repenting for your sin and inviting Him to be LORD of your life...you are covered by these promises. You can joyfully say with Isaiah (12:2) "Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH (or YAHWEH) is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation." What a peace it brings to remember that God never changes, and that he has given us very definite 'jobs' to do in the meantime...think "working with your hands, minding your own business, praying without ceasing, rejoicing alway, bearing one another's burdens, and more. I don't know about you, but, frankly I don't have time to be afraid...and Philippians 4:6-7 tells me NOT to be anxious. I pray for my husband, (sons and future sons-in-law) every day. This is my prayer. Father, build them into Godly, manly, pure, strong, wise, prudent, honest, humble, faithful, praying, grateful, obedient, diligent, fruitful, loving, joyful, forgiving, merciful, contented, courageous, gentle, generous, chivalrous, cherishing mighty men under Godly authority. After reading one chapter of Proverbs and five chapters of Psalms daily for a long time I was impressed to pray in this manner. I believe this is part of our job description as women of God for our families. Also, for me, it helps me be confident and peaceful, knowing that I have given it to Him and He delights in our casting all of our care on Him and CHOOSING to trust and not be afraid. As a side note, I also pray for myself, our daughters and future daughters-in-law. Mostly the same, slightly different...Godly, pure, feminine, gracious, wise, prudent, honest, humble, faithful, praying, grateful, obedient, diligent, fruitful, loving, joyful, forgiving, merciful, meek and quiet-spirited, law-of-kindness-in-our-tongues, contented, courageous, gentle, generous, discreet, modest, submitted women under Godly authority. Over time I have seen the fruit from daily praying for these qualities. As a family we pray for our elected (and non-elected...appointed) officials/ministers (that is what God calls them.). I look for ways to acquire the qualities of the Proverbs 31 lady and that keeps me VERY busy. In other news, our cow had her calf...a little bull and mother and baby are doing well . The children brought me 2 more large boxes of pears from what has fallen off of the trees...so I have more to process...Thank you Lord. We will be closing the textile plant beginning Tuesday and be off until the following Tuesday. We are so tired that we probably won't know we are off until 3 days after it begins. All the same, I am looking forward to the time of "rest" ?!? We have lettuce, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, brussel sprouts, and peas growing in the garden. We are still getting tomatoes, okra and jalepenos. We have never had a garden through the winter...hoping this year we will. Well, it is waaay past my bedtime.
Grace and Peace,
Ruth |

You had told me a few weeks back that you had tried to call me and left a message...I meant to write you and to tell you that I had no messages left on my recording. Either the kids erased it, or something. I just wanted you to know so you don't think I'm rude and ignoring you! I appreciate your friendship and our kinship in Christ.
