Did you all see Gena Suarez's editorial in yesterday's The Homeschool Minute? If not, I think you'll be encouraged. And if you don't get The Homeschool Minute in your email inbox, then by all means, sign up!
I'm passionate about young children, especially my own. How come various activists are insisting that preschoolers now attend government schools? Preschoolers will have a better chance at “real life” if they can have the “benefit” from “qualified teachers”, they share. Hello? They’re three! Preschool is so easy and fun to do AT HOME with these babies. How come the kids can't be free? This is such a joyful time for them - carefree and full of laughter. If Mom and Dad can teach them to talk, can they not teach them shapes, colors and numbers? (Duh!) They’re sponges at this point - taking their learning directly from life itself. Why on earth would you cage a three year old - yanking him away from life?
Moms and Dads are the most important factors in a little one's stability, security, and yes – even their education. A child’s well-being is rooted in his parents, his family. And the cool part about keeping them at home is that the family gets to stay together. (Remember why you had them?) Crazy concept, huh?
I'm so tired of what the government is trying to pull. It's all money-related. Get both parents out - working and away from the kids. More tax dollars for the state since both parents are earning. Plus they get the kids' little minds from the get-go. Forget it. I’m keeping mine home.
Parents: Don't buy into the so-called “greener grass.” It looks green some days, but it’s a hybrid variety - the kind that withers and browns. It’s so shallow that it doesn’t withstand the test of time. Your kids need you. Your pastures are much more rich and real. Keep them home where they belong.
