Number four in a series written by Melissa, mother of four daughters under the age of three.
Just as a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear Him. For He Himself knows our

#4: KNOWING OUR CHILDREN'S FRAMES
Along the lines of there being times to throw out the schedule, there are times I throw out the rebuke (so to speak) and concentrate on compassion. If my kids are being stinkers or Im feeling annoyed, usually Im either not having a merry heart myself or they need some snuggle time, whatever that looks like for them. Im learning to be more sensitive to those times when I feel like disciplining, but my daughter just needs to have a tea party!

Cultivating Hearts - Feb. 25, 2006
I so appreciate this post. I have had to learn over the years to pay attention to what else is going on in the lives of my children- are they hungry? Tired? Emotionally spent? Often we are dealing with sin issues, but there are also times when a bubble bath and a backrub before bed can cure all the ills of the day.
Do not grow weary in well-doing!
