I'm tired. I really want to quit. I just want to sit down and be done. This is hard and I don't know what possessed me to think I could do this.
But what will happen if I quit? What will happen to my kids if I even slack off just a little? I'm too afraid of that answer. I really don't care to find out, so I'll just keep on.
What I do know is that some things take strength that is not my own. I also know that God tells me that I am not to be weary. He says that if I keep going, there will be rewards.
Galatians 6:9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. Do I dare risk loosing God's rewards just because I'm a little tired? I'd hate to get to Heaven only to find I've missed out on what God had waiting for me.
But there is something that I realized as I was sitting here writing to you: If Jesus could bear the cross, surely I can bear raising, training, and educating these five treasures! He had the sins of the world on His shoulders. What a burden that must've been! He has even said I can lay my burdens on His shoulders! In fact, He said I could have His yoke and burden, these being light and easy! Look closely! He even says He'll give me rest!
Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
I was wondering what rest is, so I looked in my Strong's Condordance. This doesn't mean what I thought it would, which is to give me a break or a loooonnnggg nap! LOL . . . it's even better than that! It comes from a word that means refresh! This means to restore strength!!! Woo!! This sounds too good to be true, but it is the truth! He's telling me that He will restore my strength so that I can go on!
I was thinking about how He could restore my strength. Why would He do that for me? Well, here are just a few reasons I could thingk of:
As I continue on this homeschooling journey, I've come to realize that it is not for me that I keep going. It's for His honor and glory. It is for my children's well-being.
Here is a quote on hard work, and more hard work. Boy, does that ever seem like my life! Just when I think all the hard work is done, there's even more around the corner! It's a fact: life is hard, life is hard work, and life is hard work everyday.
Perseverance is the hard work you do after you get tired of doing the hard work you already did. ~Newt Gingrich
More later!
