• May. 26, 2009 - Apologia Notebooking Journal Giveaway
Our children and I absolutely love the Apologia science books written by Jeannie Fulbright. We are using her Astronomy book for the summer - looking forward to setting up our telescope and having campouts while studying the heavens. And soon we hope to be ordering her Botany book for our summertime nature studies. Recently notebooking journals for both books have been made available through Apologia. And if that isn't exciting enough, Jeannie is having a giveaway contest of 4 each of the notebooking journals.
See the sample pages here:

• May. 22, 2009 - Memorial Day
| We are planning on watching League of Grateful Sons tomorrow. And the children are looking forward to participating in our local Memorial Day parade and the graveside ceremony afterwards. I love to watch the children shake hands and talk with the veterans. And I love to talk to the veterans myself. They have so much to share and pass down. And it is priceless to see their eyes when children look up to them and show them honor and respect. God bless all the families who have sacrificied so much for our country and for each of us individually! |

• Apr. 23, 2009 - Time for Lambs!
| I am so thankful for the spring and all the new life that surrounds us day-by-day. I love to go to our local park with our children and see all of the new babies that were born during the winter/early spring. I love to sit in the yard (most mornings) and have our Bible fellowship outside, surrounded by all of God's handiwork. We were sitting there the other day singing praise to God and a majestic Great Blue Heron flew by us closeby. It was a breathtaking moment. On the weekend of Resurrection Day, we took the children to see the newborn lambs. All the while, we were meditating on how Jesus Christ was our Passover lamb. Time to pause and thank God for new life - the new life around us this spring and the new life that is available through Jesus Christ. |

• Apr. 13, 2009 - The Great Homestead Blessings Contest
• Mar. 31, 2009 - Busy moments
| This new year has been much busier than I am used to. We spent our free time this winter at our local skating rink. Sometimes we were there with our treasured homeschool friends. Other times we were there for family time. We even became friends with a grandmother on the ice who gave the children encouragement and skating advice. Our oldest child, Zach, won the geography bee with our local homeschool team. Then he passed the written exam and is now heading to the state level Natl Geographic Bee this Friday. Please keep him in your prayers that he shines in this bee and gives God the glory! |

• Jan. 12, 2009 - New year, new semester, God's abiding plan
Jeremiah 29:11-13
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.
And ye shall seek me ,and find me, when you shall search for me with all your heart. |

• Nov. 26, 2008 - Count our blessings
Psalm 103
Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless His holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits. Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases. Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's. The Lord executeth righteousness and judgment for all that are oppressed. He made known his ways unto Moses, his acts unto the children of Israel. The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy. He will not always chide; neither will he keep his anger for ever. He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them, that fear him. As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us. Like as a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that hear him. For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust. As for man, his days are as grass; as a flower of the field, so he flourisheth. For the wind passeth over it, and it is gone; and the place thereof shall know it no more. But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children's children; To such as keep his covenant, and to those that remember his commandments to do them. The Lord hath prepared his throne in the heavens; and his kingdom ruleth over all. Bless the Lord, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word. Bless ye the Lord, all ye his hosts; ye ministers of his, that do his pleasure. Bless the Lord, allhis works in all places of his dominion; bless the Lord, O my soul.
May your day of Thanksgiving be filled with remembrances of all that God has blessed you with and continues to bless you with! |

• Sep. 8, 2008 - Laughter and learning
| A day without God is a day not only wasted, but a day where my best laid plans end up causing more harm than good. A day without laughter can produce results (temporarily) but at what cost? My family and I are most blessed when we start the day in praise and admiration for Almighty God. Don't you look forward to your children waking up and seeing their smiling faces and giving them all hugs? I know God looks forward to fellowshipping with us even more. Isn't that amazing? It really overwhelms me. Tithe out of your cheerful, giving hearts of you and your family's time to be in the presence of God and His Son Jesus Christ. Spend more time in the beauty of His Creation. I believe that when we do our hearts will be overflowing with joy and laughter. |

• Aug. 27, 2007 - You can lead a horse to water BUT....
• May. 3, 2006 - Out in the fields with God
The little cares that fretted me
I lost them yesterday
Among the fields, above the sea,
Among the winds at play,
Among the lowing of the herds,
The rustling of the trees,
Among the singing of the birds,
The humming of the bees.
The foolish fears of what might happen,
I cast them all away,
Among the clover-scented grass,
Among the new-mown hay,
Among the husking of the corn,
Where drowsy poppies nod,
Where ill thoughts die and good are born --
Out in the fields with God.
