Boy oh boy has there been a lot of stuff going on over here. I'm not even sure where to start.
We've been our window for choosing new orders now for a while. My husband's last set of orders before retirement.
What should have been simple turned out to be very difficult.
Our detailer has been giving us a majorly hard time about going where we want. Long story short, we wanted the east coast, he kept saying no.(Civilian jobs are there and it's easier to visit family.) His reasons being 1) Money 2) DH hasn't spent enough time out west. (Note: He's been stationed OVERSEAS for 10 out of 20 years, on the west coast for a year, and on the east coast for 7. Last time I checked 7 was less then 11.)
At any rate it's been an ugly fight. Kevin's chain of command fought for him, 2 commands on the east coast fought for him. And still the man said no. So I got angry and wrote our congressman. And one of them, Joe Knollenberg of Michigan, put in a Congressional Inquiry on Kevin's behalf.
Guess who's going to the East Coast???
Praise God!! And may God Bless Congressman Knollenberg for his help. For the record he, was the only one of our representation who responded. Ha! on the other two, I didn't vote for them anyway.
We will be moving back to Virginia. Virginia Beach to be specific. We're so excited. Mostly because our church is there. I think leaving that church was the hardest thing about moving here. We've really missed it. We are thrilled to be going back.
(And Uncle Tom, you are NOT ALLOWED to mention this to Uncle Donnie. We've decided not to tell them. We're just going to show up on his doorstep one day with our suitcases and ask if we can stay with them.
We'll be sure to get pictures for you and Tif. Don't worry. The suitcases will be empty.)
Of course there turned out to be a catch. I mean the detailer got his hand smacked rather publicly, he almost had to get in a smack of his own. LOL We're moving NEXT MONTH.
Our rotation date wasn't until April. But the detailer only offered us one east coast option and that requires Kevin to report by January 15. You almost have to give the man props for that last little dig.
But ha on him! We don't care. Okay, I do care about the fact that I'm going to freeze to death. I'm going from a tropical island, where it's always 90+, to the middle of winter. I get cold here when it drops down to 80. But I've already got a list of places where I want to go eat, so I'm pumped. I think Olive Garden will be first. Or maybe The Melting Pot. Decisions, decisions. LOL
It's been so exciting to see God's hand in all of this. His timing wasn't what we'd hoped, us being incrediably impatient humans, but once He started working things out, everything was moving fast. It's been very exciting for our family to see His hand in all of this!!! Glory to the Father!!!
