Everywhere you turn today, whether it be television, magazines, the Internet or even the grocery store, people are talking about global warming and climate change. It's real. The people of the north are losing their livelihood. They are witnessing the disappearance of the polar icecaps, new species of insects and even new animals. Imagine. Their very world is turning upside down. But we have the ability to slow this cycle down! By education. By changing our habits. By getting real about our situation.
I think that this is such a 'real' issue and should be considered as important to learn as mathematics, reading, and writing! I'll be creating a right-hand link to this very important subject! If you'd like to contribute your thoughts, lessons ideas, or just sound off, send me an eMail and I'll post it here! In November and December 2006, the Exploratorium celebrates the start of the upcoming 2007-2008 International Polar Year with a special series of Webcasts highlighting the work of scientists at field sites surrounding the North and South Poles. It's called 'Science from the Poles'.
