Some of our happiest moments are spent in studying God's glory through his creation. It is a joy and a blessing to know Him more fully as we learn about His world. From nature study in the local wilderness to the nitty gritty of cell structure; from unfathomable deep space to the mysteries of the ocean's crevasses-this is our Father's world!
There are endless resources that reflect the glory of our Lord's creation. There are so many that it is honestly hard to pick just one to feature! However, since my own love of science was truly rekindled by using Exploring Creation with Zoology 2: Swimming Creatures of the Fifth Day, this is my choice!
Each lesson is broken down into smaller sections, assignments, and hands-on projects. The projects are fun, and they actually use things you are likely to have on hand. Projects include Making an Ocean Box, a Sound Experiment, a Buoyancy Experiment . . . even one that tests the electrical signals of fish underwater.
Lesson titles include "Aquatic Animals," "Whales," "Seals and Sea Cows," "Fish," "Sharks and Rays," "Mollusks," "Echinoderms," "Crustaceans," and more! Each lesson dives deep-no scratching the surface here!
For example, in Lesson 2, "Whales," the teaching includes a study of whales . . . ncluding killer whales, belugas, blues, humpbacks, grays, narwhals, and more. We learned about their specially designed tails, their families, and how they communicate. The hands-on project involved making a simple megaphone to test different sounds and how they reflect off of different objects. Along the way, we also learned how sounds travel . . .
Last night, I had a dream I was sorting, cleaning and setting up for selling the house. Of course, being a dream, it wasn't even this house! Too bad I could not get such tedious work done while sleeping. Didn't you mention the house work fairies?
I hope someone suggested YOUR blog entry about Spring and Spring Cleaning as a sample entry for the newer folks to look over. I thought it fit the bill just great. I get the HSNs digest so by the time I respond to stuff it's belated anyhow.
I did get an anon comment yesterday on the WA HSNs Blog from a post posted in January. You just never know...
