Have you ever hit a wall when trying to teach your child a concept in any of the subjects he or she is learning? I have! There are times when I just don't know how to make my child understand and grasp a subject like algebra! I understand why we do, what it is we need to do, but I don't always know how to explain it! So... I nearly fell out of my seat, with excitement, when I found this next site! It's Pete's Power Point Station! Incredible! And FREE! You'll find power point presentations for almost every elementary subject imaginable!
Have you ever wondered why curriculum is so expensive? And so hard to find in Quebec? It's a million dollar industry but virtually doesn't exist here! I was sitting here thinking about how hard it is to find resources, when my son walked over and began talking about, 'TheMagicSchoolBus: Explores theSolarSystem', that he's presently reading. Gosh, how my kids and I enjoyed the Magic School Bus books by Joanna Cole and the cartoon series on PBS! We'd spend hours discussing what we had learned and seen. I particularly liked this series because it's available in both French and English! I started thinking, 'it's easily found in our local library! And it's fun! And FREE!' That's right! FREE!
The Magic School Bus's Teacher Feature @ Scholastic has fabulous games and activities! Another site that offers links to Magic School Bus learning related lessons and activities is Teacher Created Resources! You must check out their 'FREE' section! Wonderful! I have a few of their lesson books -- they are my family's favorite lessons ideas!
I managed to scrape together a few links for you! Have fun!
So go on, cuddle up and watch some cartoons together or better yet, grab a book and go on a 'Magic School Bus' adventure!

Good Morning! If you are a homeschool family in Quebec, you face the same dilemma that I do, where to find good curriculum for your children. It has to be well written, have good referencing to available information and be engaging. It's not widely available in stores. We have a few local suppliers but they prefer to sell their wares to schools or certified teachers!
Well, as usual, I've located some fantastic material. It has Canadian content -- which is even harder to find on the Internet! Great [pdf] formatted files to print! It's written by Ontario teachers and can be found @ http://educ.queensu.ca/~curr/units/ Don't delay in printing out the resources you need! As you well know, educational links disappear, especially government links and it would be a shame not to benefit!

I'm feeling nostalgic this morning so I thought we'd take a trip down memory lane. Do any of you remember wishing you could live in a treehouse like the Berenstain Bears? They were a favorite read for me. So this morning I'm posting links to what I think will stir the creative juices of your young adventurer. First, I encourage you to take a trip over to the official Berenstain Bears Website , the creator of the Berenstain Bears was born this week in history. (Visit the Treehouse link after you've explored this site).
Being that it's fire safety week, and everyone's thinking about winter heating and perhaps even burning leaves! (We live in the country;) And me in my nostalgic mode, I started wondering about Smoky the Bear and what he's been up to! Visit Smoky the Bear for great teacher resources, printables, videos and more! Or visit Sparky the Fire Dog to create your families escape route!
Do you remember Woodsy Owl's catch phrase, 'Give a Hoot! Don't Pollute!' I do! Visit his website and download his scavenger hunt activity! Get out there and enjoy this fabulous Indian summer that we are experiencing! It's great that we have the chance to be part of our children's memories in the making! Enjoy the day!

I hope that everyone has been enjoying all of the new and interesting links that I've been busily posting over the past couple of weeks. And if you are new to this blog, don't forget to visit past posts, for great learning links.
Today, I found an incredible, 'new' to me, site. I'm always on the look out for lessons that integrate the web, textbook and everyday materials that we have available to us. And that are easy to understand. This site just might be the site...and you can earn money, too, for 'your' ideas. It's called the Curriculum Archive.
The Curriculum Archiveis a central repository for free lessons and classroom projects. You can earn extra income while contributing your ideas to this collective resource. Visit the site to read more information about how the site works and to find out about payment schedules.
