Oct. 16, 2005 - A learning experience!!

Well, my boy has had the experience of a lifetime!!  I agreed to allow him to ride his bike on one of Olathe's many trails with his three buddies.  He had on his new helmet, praise God!  They went down a steep hill and one lad lost control of his bike and crashed into the creek, landing on his head and getting a very serious injury.  My boy called 911 on the cell phone my DH insisted on him taking!  They got to witness the arrival of the paramedics, fire department and  police!!  But they were not excited at all...worried is the word!  When they finally arrived home he had a tale to tell!!  Poor guy.  This is the kind of thing that boys like to brag about but now that it has actually happened he is wondering why guys brag about these things.  I am sure, though, after time heals all they will be back on their bikes, talking about it as if it was the most amazing thing that has ever happened to them.  The boy that was hurt will be fine...some stiches and wounded pride!
