Jan. 5, 2006 - Here we go again...
I put my oldest on the computer this am to get an idea of where he was in math...it was a free site for diagnositcs. Well, frustration abounds when it comes to him and math!! This kid wants to be a pilot, go to the air force academy but hates math!! What am I to do?? I was calm, and actually encouraged instead of getting angry with him. He still continued to whine and complain. It absolutley drives me batty!! We haven't even officially started school and it has already started. He says if it were a perfect kid world, he would never have to do a lick of school! He also said he wished he was the kind of kid who liked school. :( What's a mama to do?? I loved school!! I loved to read!! I still love learning in any form!! I worry so much about that boy. He has big dreams but I know in my heart he will never relaize them if he doesn't get a better attitude about school! I guess I need to take this one to God.

Wow, you sound a lot like me. I also have 3 boys. Our oldest who is 10 is behind in math also. I always loved school, learning and especially math. I get really worried sometimes thinking about his math grades. He wants to be a scientist or an architect and you know he has to be good in math for either of those. I have found, though, that if I make it fun, he loves it and picks it up real easy. One thing that I have used is TimesTales: http://www.timestales.com/
He really likes that and he picked up his multiplication facts in a matter of minutes.
Where can I find that diagnostic test online?
You're right, though, we have to keep committing it to the Lord and pray for His wisdom and direction. He'll show us how to teach them.

I tried to go back and edit my comment to ask you where I can find the diagnostic test online and it wiped out my user info. Sorry about that. I didn't know how to fix it.
