Jan. 11, 2006 - American History...????
I am struggling so much with American HIstory. I have this wonderful program for history and I have completely failed it. I think the assignments are a little above my sons head and I am not creative enough to make up my own. It is very frustrating. All of the books I wanted from the library are out until who knows when and DS does't like sitting in front of a computer screen reading. So what am I to do??? I am considering just to continue floating through it, doing what I can and hoping for the best. I guess I can always repeat it in a few years. Hopefully he will be a bit more independant in the research department by then and do most of it on his own. One can only hope and pray.

Don't worry, there is plenty of time for American History in the future! Besides, most students learn some in elementary school, and again and again in middle school, high school and college. It is not the end of the world! I majored in history in college and I could not tell you very many facts about anything-- but I have an "idea" of how certain events led to other events and I definitely know how to find out any information I might want to know...and THAT is the true essence of homeschooling no matter the subject.
Perhaps you can just check out some good biographies of key players throughout American History???
