Quiver's House

September 19, 2005
Whew, have we been busy today!

We got all the veggies from yesterday washed, cooked and frozen or hung to dry. Feels so good to have it all done and put away. I have a big batch of spaghetti sauce simmering and my 15 year old son is making some soft pretzels from scratch!

Then we caught up on correcting school work and I read some from our current read a loud to the little ones. We are almost finished with "Stuart Little" by E.B. White. They are really enjoying it and I think everyone's favorite part was the boat race. Although, my 9 year old, laughed and laughed when Stuart shot Snowbell with his bow and arrow.

After, we spent some time cleaning to get ready for Carla Emery's visit. She is a good friend and the author of the book " The Encyclopedia of Country Living"

Her and her husband Don will be arriving around noon tomorrow and we will spend some time catching up. After dinner we will run over to the local Wesleyan Church where Carla will be giving a presentation on homesteading. They are spending the night here with us and will head out early Wednesday morning for their next speaking engagement. We are really looking forward to seeing them again!

If you are intersted in learning more about homesteading I suggest reading Carla's book or visiting her web site http://www.carlaemery.com/ .

I have to work tonight so I will be busy at my desk until 9, but I feel like we have accomplished a lot so far. Today was my weigh in day and I didn't even get on the scale. I have had a good day(so far lol) and have been eating well and drinking my water, so hopefully I can stick with it! One day at a time, right?

September 22, 2005 - Welcome!

Posted by MomToTwo

Welcome to the world of blogging! :o)

We also enjoy gardening. Our garden is just about finished though. The kids picked some black-eyed peas this morning and we have a few tomatoes left and sweet potatoes. We ate our first sweet potatoes yesterday, and they were so yummy! I was very pleasantly surprised. I also make my own spaghetti sauce and can it. I like it so much better than store bought! (healthier too)

Oh, we're also reading Stuart Little and loving it. It's a fun book for me to read aloud!
