Quiver's House

Fall is here!

Today is rainy and chilly so we started the fireplace going. I love the smell of wood burning. I love fall, love the crisp air. Everything seems so much brighter and clearer.

And I love fall foods, of course  Today my 10 year old is baking molasses cookies. This is a good size recipe so you can either cut it in half or freeze some.

Molasses Cookies

3 cups shortening

4 cups sugar

1 Cup molasses

4 eggs

8 tsp baking soda

1 tsp salt

2 tsp cinnamin

1tsp cloves

8 cups flour

Melt shortening, add sugar and mix until creamed. Add in eggs and molasses, mix again. Next, mix in the rest of ingredients except flour. Then add flour, 1 cup at a time until well mixed.

Shape into balls and roll in sugar. Do not flatten. Place on greased cookie sheet and bake in a 350 degree over for 8-10 min. Cool for 2 min then remove to wire racks and cool completely.

Enjoy!

Edited this to add, that the 3 oldest kids just walked in the door home early from work. Wet and cold. They were very happy to see the fire and smell the cookies

baking!

I love a fire and can't wait until it's cool enough here in Indiana! Usually that's not until the end of November. I can't wait....of course I can have the cookies anytime- thanks for that recipe. It must be beautiful where you live this time of year!
