Search and rescue

Last night about 8 PM the phone rings ; our three oldest boys 15, 14 and 12, are needed to help with a search and rescue for a lost hunter as part of thier Civil Air Patrol unit. They needed to be about an hour from here by 7 AM today. So, we got things ready for the morning and sent them to bed. I heard them up late talking and could sense their excitement.

They were up at 5:30 AM and dad drove them to the fire station. About 45 minutes after the search began, a group of adult volunteers found the missing man. The boys were not even sent out in the woods and were bummed that they didn't get to go, but everyone was relieved to hear he had been found. The boys were not told the status of the man, whether he was alive or not, and that they would hear details Tuesday at their CAP meeting.

Later, watching the local news, we learned the man had been found dead. He was a 70 year old man and apparently diabetic among other health issues. He had been missing since Tuesday.

Please pray for this man's  family. I am thankful that the boys were not the ones to find him though, I just wish the outcome had been better.
