• Jul. 14, 2008 - Beach Mama
Our homeschool group goes to the beach every Thursday. I love to go sit in my chair, visit with the other moms, and stare off into the waves. In the two years that we have lived here I have yet to go into the water more than up to my knees. Mostly because it is usually just me and the girls at the beach and I can't leave them to go play in the water. Joel goes with us to the beach in the winter. But then it is way to cold to go into the water, which is always freezing anyway. But this last Thursday Joel's plans changed at the last minute so he came to the beach with us. I took advantage of it and took the boogie board (thanks to the Davis' for the board- they figured they wouldn't need it in Illinois) and hit the waves! Rhonda, another mom, and I had a blast and we only wiped out a few times. I couldn't lay on my stomach on the board due to the largeness of my belly but I managed to make it work. So fun!! |

• Jul. 6, 2008 - Links/Friends
| I finally am trying to update my list of links on my blog so I can keep up on your blogs so if I missed adding your blog to my list of links please let me know. My "Links" list is really my friends list but I can't figure out how to change the heading on the side bar things and homeschool blogger won't let me add anyone to my friends list that doesn't blog with homeschool blogger. I am tempted to switch to blogspot.com but it took so long to figure out how to use my blog here I am not up to starting over just yet. |

• Feb. 15, 2008 - New Haircut
One of my friends needed a model for school. She needed to learn to do this cut. I needed a free hair cut so it worked out well for both of us! I like it but I am struggling to get use to bangs again. Plus now what gray hair I have is in my bangs so it is more noticable! |

• Jan. 20, 2008 - The Mormons Claim What??
In Church today one of the teachers in Sunday School shared an interesting comment that I wanted to blog. He said that as members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints we often start in chapter 3 (that the Church has been restored) when we talk to others about our church. But that we should start in chapter 1. Chapter 1 being that Jesus Christ organized a church while He was on the earth. Ephesians 2:20 tells us that it was build upon the foundation of apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ being the chief corner stone. Chapter 2 is the apostasy, meaning that man changed the church that Christ organized after His apostles were all killed (2 Thess 2:3). Therefore the need for Chapter 3, that the true church was restored to the earth through the prophet Joseph Smith in 1830. So mormons claim that their church is the reorganized original Christian church. You may disagree with that but you can't disagree with the fact that that is what we claim. Therefore, yes we believe in th Bible (our members wrote it and of course we are Christians, in the true form of the word, followers of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. So if nothing else there is a fact about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, they claim to be the reorganized original Christian Church! |

• Jan. 7, 2008 - A child of God
I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (www.mormon.org). In our ward (congregation) there is a sister that shared with me a few months ago that even though some of her children have decided not to be active in our Church as adults she wouldn't go back and change anything she did while parenting them at home except that she would make sure that she taught them more often that they are children of God. She wants to help them know that they are a son or daughter of God who loves them. I think about this often as I am spending time with my girls and wonder if I am teaching them well. I am Heavenly Father's instrument He is using to show love to them now. Am I being useful to Him? Can they feel His love through me? Adelle's copywork (handwriting) assignment today was the phrase I am a child of God. I want her to know that God knows and loves her, His daughter, just as Joel and I do. I sing (in my off key voice) the Primary (children's) song from Church ( listen to the song here), I am a child of God, to Maeve as I put her to bed and wonder will she understand that God loves her and wants her to return to Him after this life on earth? It is funny before having children I didn't put much thought into teaching them and the enormous responsibility of that but now it is a constant thought in my head. When I feel overwhelmed I remind myself that God is there, standing at the door knocking, always wanting to help, if I will but let Him enter. Go to Him in prayer and listen for His direction. Why is that so hard some days? |
