8 Random Things About Me

Tagged myself from SarahLynne's blog.  So, here goes....8 random things about me--trying to surprise even Sarah herself!

1.  My mom was 36 and my dad was 52 when I was born.  I was the baby of a blended family w/ siblings old enough to be my parents.

2.  I have been in the musical Little Shop of Horrors twice--once as Audrey with a community theatre when I was a senior in high school and once as Ronnette when I was in college.

3.  I sucked my thumb until I was 8.  Ended up w/ braces b/c of it.

4.  I was in 4-H and raised rabbits--at one point in time I had over 20 of them.  I won grand champion on showmanship one year and went on to get a blue ribbon at the state fair.  I actually miss those little critters too.

5.  DH proposed to me on one knee w/ a cracker jacks box in his hand (the ring was inside) on the night before our last day of high school on the sidewalk outside my parent's home.  He was so cute--still is!  As an extra piece of trivia, I was, in fact, a cheerleader and he was a football player (not the quarterback, but close enough) at rival schools! LOL

6.  I learned how to make mashed potatoes by secretly watching my sister-in-law make them one Thanksgiving over 3 years into our marriage.  I was too embarrased to tell anyone that I had not a clue how to make them.  In fact, I didn't know how to make anything w/o a recipe.

7.  When I was 4, I was showing off on the monkey bars of my swing set and ended up w/ my teeth through my lip.  I still have the scar.

8.  I don't read directions--I look at the pictures! LOL

OK, Sarah...now how much of that did you know?!?

mashed potatoes huh? hehehe
I usually will read the directions of a recipe - but hardly ever follow them exactly - even the very first time I make something. not sure why - rebel or just want to make it my own.

Let's see. I didn't know #3. I had braces, too but I don't think I sucked my thumb. I knew you were in 4-H but don't think I knew about the rabbits and prizes. #5 was totally new to me. How cute about the cracker jacks box...lol.

Amy! Ok so Im not a homeschool mom or quiverfull, but I read your blogs faithfully! They make me laugh, they make me cry, and they inspire me. Since we dont see you all that much anymore it gives me a chance to keep up with what is going on! Am I the mashed potatoe lady, or is it the other side? LOL. BTW, I have gotten many a great recipe from you over the years, but I still cant get over the playdoh and the watermelon! Keep blogging, and I will keep reading! God bless and keep you.

Jun. 19, 2007 - hello!

I just wanted to say that I really enjoyed reading your OB/midwife post.

My mom had three C's, then two VBAC's, her final when she was 40 and it was *finally* med-free! I still remember how proud she was. :) (Her first VBAC the ob didn't think she would progress fast enough, so he gave her an epi - but if you think about it, 'twas the first time her body had labored! And then things kicked in.)

Congrats on number 5, hope you are holding baby soon. :)
