Tea on the Prairie

Yesterday, my mom, my 2 older girls, and I attended an annual tea party.  Every year there is a theme, with this year's being A Homesteader's Tea.  Many of the people who attend dress up, which makes it that much more fun for my girls.

Once I knew my mom had gotten seats for us, I started planing our attire.  For my 6 yo, it was a dress I bought used, an off-white eyelet apron I made for her, and a bonnet I had as a child for our town's centennial celebration.  For the 3 yo, it was a dress and pinafore I had made for my oldest daughter when she was that age and a bonnet made by a MOMYS daughter.  For myself, I chose to go matronly...black skirt, white button-down shirt w/ a brooch and a shawl crocheted by a friend.

The entertainment was a cowboy singer by the name of Barry Ward.  His music was unashamedly Christian and refreshing.  I was able to talk to him afterward, and was impressed by his graciousness and humbleness.  You could see the light of Christ radiating from his eyes.

I am so thanful for the time spent that afternoon drinking tea with my mother and my girls.  I hope these tea parties will become treasured memories for my daughters.
