6 Months of the Lord's Handiwork

Our fifth child has been a testimony to the Lord's faithfulness and mercy from the start.

I found out she was coming on my Dad's 82nd birthday and our 4th child's 9 month birthday.  My dad would not live to see her born...he died when I was 5 mons along.  However, earlier in the pregnancy, when my mom told him I was pregnant again, he laughed.  That made my day.

She was due July 2, but her daddy was really hoping for a July 4th birthday...he got his wish!  If you regularly read my blog, you know the circumstances surrounding her delivery and how amazing God was during all of that.  If not, here is the link to that post: http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/Raisingarrows/354029/

Then, I find myself with this beautiful little one who rarely makes a peep, sleeps through the night, and is perfectly content all day every day.  My mom commented at Thanksgiving that she was "so good, it was almost scary."  Not scary...a blessing!  When she did get sick, we knew she was sick!

I kept an extensive diary during her hospital stay that will go in her baby book.  I want her to know who she is and how God has had a hand in her life from the beginning.  The prayers of God's people saved this special little girl!

Today, she turned 6 months old.  Six months ago today, I was laying in a hospital bed, babe in arms, watching fireworks out my window.  Here I sit six months later, newly released from the hospital, babe in arms, watching God's handiwork suck her little thumb

That's great. However, we have to be careful not to teach our children to focus on themselves and "who they are". But to focus on Jesus. If there is an ounce of "me" or "I" in my life, there is no room for God. He needs to be the only one. Satan would have us focused on ourselves: examining our feelings, discussing our feelings, blogging about ourselves, thinking about how everything effects us. All to distract us from our focus on living for Jesus. We're to be examining the Word of God, discussing how Jesus lives, and perhaps blogging about Jesus. It's really just not about us. That's all.
Hope this doesn't offend anybody. I just saw something potentially wrong.
We're praying for you're family Amy.
Peace.

Wow, I like this picture so much better than the scary one from the hospital. So happy that she is home and better.

Jan. 5, 2008 - I respectfully disagree...

Posted by Raisingarrows
I feel I must disagree. I do not believe telling our children how the Lord has had His hand on them throughout their lives is putting the focus on themselves.

As for blogging about how things affect "us"...I again, must respectfully disagree. I believe we must be aware of how the Lord is working in our lives, ever drawing us nearer to Him. I blog about the things going on in my life, not for MY glory, but more as a way to document and share the awesome faithfulness and mercy of my Lord.

"What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?" Ps 8:4

I can't imagine that Satan could use a blog entry that praises God's work against anyone!
When your daughter is older and can read about these trying times, she will be reassured of God's presence in her life. Even the most holy people have times of doubt and feeling alone. A written account to treasure and ponder in her heart may increase her faith, and the faith of her future spouse and children also.
Sharing with others is a part of witnessing Christ to the world. Telling of His goodness is not just sharing the gospel word for word, it is showing the LIVING gospel of today, as it is STILL HAPPENING. Christ still heals, He still comforts, it is still happening. The Bible isn't just a dry history book. It's God's beautiful word, that shows us what DID happen, and what CAN happen. Thank you for your post that shows others this. Who knows how many are going to be strengthened by your daughter's story. How many souls were won for Christ?!
A friend once told me that she sees herself sowing seeds everywhere she goes. When she gets to Heaven one day, she likes to imagine that Jesus will show her fields of flowers, that show what she did on Earth. There will be weeds, too, no doubt, but hopefully the amount of flowers will choke them out. When I think of it this way, I ask myself, am I sowing flowers or weeds today?
We are praying for Emmy's complete healing!

In Christ,

Leocea

I had to come see picture of your sweet angel. We pray for you and celebrate her life. Words cannot express what all we would like to say to you, but we pray the Lord is with you during this time. (((hugs)))
