The local newspaper came out and did a story on us because Micah was the first New Year's baby in the area.  This was such a blessing because it gave us an opportunity to talk about Emily and talk about our faith and share once again our story.  The reporter did a wonderful job portraying our family without biased against Christianity.

We are so very blessed to finally be holding our sweet little boy!

Jan. 26, 2009 - article

Just read the article about the "me time" myth.
It was very good. It is true. My friend and I had gone to a MOPS meeting where this was discussed and my friend made a stand against it. I had to think about it b/c I've never considered that "me time" wasn't what I should be searching for. I'm so glad she took a stand and also that you've written this. Very encouraging and confirming.
Thanks,

Jan. 26, 2009 - Me Time

Thank you for writing the article "Me Time" I have always secretly felt this way. But people around me and the media kept saying it was wrong. I am glad I stuck to my belief and put my children and family first. I don't feel like I am missing out on anything, in fact I feel like I am blessed. My children will be grown and gone before I know it and I am truly blessed that I had this time to really connect with them. It is very hard to live on one income, however, my two boys would not be the young men they are today if I had not homeschooled them. The "ME" time is such a myth and that is what is wrong with society today. There is to much "Me, Me, Me" and not enough "US". I am new to your website, but, I will be back. Thank you again

Feb. 3, 2009 - Me Time

Amy,
I am totally computer illiterate, but I managed to get this to you b/c I desperately wanted you to hear it. Congrats on your beautiful (and huge!) baby boy and your beautiful children.

I just opened my old copy of "Old Schoolhouse" which I am just managing to read. I immediately went to the article on "Me Time Myth" b/c it's such a buzz word lately. You changed my life. We have been reading a book on surrendering in women's study, and one thing I wanted to give up is my anger and impatience with my children. This article however, opened a whole new perspective in why I do these things, aside from just being a filthy sinner. My selfishness. I felt like I was reading my autobiography when I read this article. Without going into a long story, I sat and repented of my sin on my sofa... how can I do this to the children and husband God has so graciously given me? They are gifts and I have treated them terribly at times.

I just wanted to thank you for your honesty and for shedding light on yet another of Satan's lies. You are a gem and obviously a woman seeking to be obedient to God's word and apply it to your life.

I also wanted to ask your permission to make copies of this and pass it on to the ladies I will be teaching (a parenting book to no less!) in the spring. It would be 10 copies. Please email me whenever (I don't start until April) and let me know if you do not mind. My email is happy2teachkdz@yahoo.com

Many, many blessings to your family and your homeschooling. Thank you.
