It is really fun to make cookies. It is really fun to make these! Me and my sister had a lot of fun. My Mom found this on Jills Blog. It is really cool how many colors you can make them. I really had a LOT of Fun!

I like mixing up the dough, it is really light and soft.

It is fun to take the dough and put the food coloring in it and mix it. I would say it was the funnest process. You make a little hole in the center of the dough, and then you drop what colors you want in the hole. And then you knead it to make all the colors work. If you want to make brown, take red and green and mix them. Or if you want a gold color take red and yellow and mix them.

After you finish coloring them, put them in your freezer for 15 minutes. And while you do that you can pick up and clear a space for you to work!

It is really fun to break up all the things you have dyed, and put them all together to make a disc. It is really fun!

And then you fold them all together to make a patty shape of all your different colors. What me and my sister did, we didn't want two of our colors to touch the same color but you can do it differently.

When you have made your patties, you can take a cookie cutter or something and cut it out. Just put it on the cookie sheet, you don't have to grease it at all. And if you want you can draw lines on your cookies if you want to do a leaf. Or draw eyes on a little character. Our leaf cookie cutter had lines right on it! Or you can use a knife and sort of make your own lines.

When you are done you can take like a tray or something if it has leaves or something on it and put them on a tray or whatever you would like.

from my Mom: Josh dictated this to me. He is 8. He begged me all yesterday to make a cake, but I was too busy with other things :( Last night Jill posted this wonderful, beautiful recipe on her blog and we just had to try it! It was very fun and visually rewarding. And absolutely delicious! Be sure to go to Jill's blog for the whole recipe, and to see her gorgeous photos!
The kids did most everything by themselves, and it was a special time in the kitchen. I hope you enjoyed this episode of
"Joshua's Restaurant!"
