alot of memories
Today was a fun day for me.
The kids and I went to visit my alma mater. It's been 19 years since I graduated, and that long since I've been back at my old school and seen some of my teachers. 19 years is a long time!
I went to a Christian school from 6th grade through graduation. I was always very thankful to my parents for making the decision and the sacrifice to provide me with a quality, Christian education. So many of my teachers made lasting impressions on my life; and alot of the person I am today is a direct result of their influence in my life.
When I attended school there, it was held in an old church~ and not a very large church. Just last year, God blessed the school by providing a large factory. They have worked and completely renovated this sturdy brick building into a gorgeous new school facility. It was amazing to me to see how God has been working over the years.
I was blessed to get a tour from my English teacher. One thing that I remember about her was her taking the time to read aloud to us every day~ even when we were in high school. That made a big impression on me. Recently, I had contacted her about book ideas for Ashley~ she quickly shared a HUGE list of ideas for both read-alouds and high school book suggestions that I know I will treasure and refer to often.
I also got to visit (briefly) with the principal. What a talented guy! This man can play the piano like nothing you've ever heard. He had this talent of taking Scripture and setting it to music. Many of those songs/verses are still committed to my memory and I find myself singing them (instead of reading them!) One of my favorite memories of him was taking Greek class in my Jr. year~ there were only 3 of us in the class, which was held in his office (he was/is also the Sr. Pastor of the church associated with the school). That Greek class was full of fun times, lots of learning, and many memories!
My 6th grade teacher and high school Spanish teacher, along with the school nurse were there as well. It was almost like no time was lost. Except that now I have a daughter who is the same age and looks much like I looked when they taught me.
As I thought about the visit on the way home, I thought about all the ways that I teach my girls~ and how many of the things I say and the methods I use are things that I learned by (good) example.
Wow~ time flies! It was a blessed day!
Edited to add: If you would be interested in the sheet music and/or recordings of the "Word for Word" Bible Memory songs that I made mention of above, these can be purchased on cd from the school's website at http://www.norrychristian.net/Music/Word_For_Word.asp. Some of the songs are even available to listen to online (and the sheet music is downloadable from there as well). May this be as much of a blessing to you and your family as it has been to me! Enjoy!

is so much fun. Sometimes the memories are funny and some bittersweet.
PA is a lot like MD. We actually did not live that far from the PA border. My DH and I would go to Lancaster a lot for weekends when we could get away.
We moved to FL mainly for the warmer weather - my DH has bad knees and I suffered from seasonal depression ( never officially diagnosed), but I'm so MUCH nicer down here... LOL.
Have a great rest of the week!

It's fun to go back to those places from our childhood, especially when yours seems to have been so special and caring. I emailed the link to myself for the scripture songs. My younger girls love to sing scripture. They have the Hide 'em in Your Heart CD Vol 1, and I have ordered Vol. 2. They have learned so many scriptures just from that one.
