Wednesday
Wednesday was another busy day! We got up early and got ready to meet up at Crystal's house by 9 am. We followed them to Philadelphia, where we went on a walking tour of the historical landmarks. Living in PA, I'm almost ashamed to admit that this was the first time I'd seen the Liberty Bell! Crystal & I, along with Lorna and her husband, took the kids in to see a tour of Independence Hall (while Brian and Rod, Crystal's hubby, waited out with the strollers and the babies). We enjoyed a picnic lunch together on the grounds of Independence Hall. It was a beautiful day~ not too hot, not too cold~ and we enjoyed our stroll through the city. However, after having travelled down there once, I won't be in a big hurry to go back. I'm a history lover, and it makes me a little sad that, rather than keep the historical part of the city intact (like Williamsburg, VA), the entire city of Philadelphia has been built and "built up" around it~ so you have to travel through downtown (very busy!) Philly to get to it.
Here are some pictures of our day in Philly (can you tell Ashley and I are more into pictures of people, rather than landmarks?!)
Here's a view of Independence Hall from where we ate our lunch:

Here's one of my kids with the Liberty Bell:

Here's a group shot of all the kids~
I feel awful because I can't remember what this building was~
possibly the first stock exchange?
(maybe Rod can help me out~ he was our tour guide for the day~
and a darn good one!)

Another picture of the teen girls:

And the little girls:

And here's one of Brian and Gracie at the Betsy Ross house
(which you can't see!):

*Again, if anyone is interested, I'm sure Ashley will be posting a different variety of pics on her blog.

Heidi! How fun it was to look through your blog this morning. It looks like you all had a fantastic time. What a blessed gift it is to have the opportunity to connect with other Believers/Homeschoolers from all over. I'm sure you have been a wonderfully, gracious host.
Hugs~

We went to Philadelphia 2 years ago (I think). We loved it. We were only there one day, plus a day at Valley Forge. We love history here, too. You're right. Getting there was not much fun. We were staying across the river in New Jersey, and there was a ton of traffic. It was still worth it.
