An Update & A God Moment
It's been a few days since I've posted anything of a personal nature. I do so love sharing with you all these great books that I am reading, though. I hope you enjoy my reviews (and contests) too.
Thanks to everyone who has prayed for me and the cut on my thumb. It is healing nicely, thank God, without a needle and thread! I've actually graduated to a band-aid now, and am thinking that maybe soon I can even get it wet. It's been a real challenge keeping it dry for the past several days. It's meant that Ashley and I have had to trade-off some of our "chores"~ but, all in all, I've found that to be a good thing. Everything happens for a reason; and, guess what? Ashley can actually wash the dishes now!
Yesterday afternoon, the girls each started a class at a homeschool store (I don't say "local", as the store is about an hour from here~ actually, I'd love to start something similar in our area~ maybe someday.........a girl can dream!) Ashley's taking a Beginning Sign Language course and Gracie is taking an Asian-Inspired Art class. Both of them really enjoyed their first class yesterday; and, during the next five weeks, while they're in their classes, Ian and I will have a chance to do some much-needed Christmas shopping.
What's a "God Moment"? you ask........Well, before I was part of the Jr. High Sunday School class at church, I was a "real" adult and went to a class for adults! The teacher, who is fantastic and so knowledgeable, would start each class by asking if we'd had any God Moments that week. It was always so interesting to hear the stories. And, even more fun and meaningful when I'd have one of my own to share. The girls and I had one yesterday.......
We were on our way home from their classes and decided that, since it's unseasonably warm (again) in PA and the air conditioner in our van isn't working, we should stop for some refreshment on the way home. We ran through the drive-thru at Dairy Queen and were heading home when we saw a car broke down/wrecked in the median. Well, this was about 45 minutes from home, so I was surprised when Ashley said "That looked like so-and-so"; as soon as she said it, I realized that I recognized the vehicle as one belonging to a lady from our town. So, we turned around and went back to check on her. Here the entire wheel of her vehicle (an older Ford Bronco) had loosened and fell off! Thank goodness she was able to keep control of it enough to get it into the median, and that she had made it to an area where there actually was a median. We were able to drive her home, and she was just so tickled that we had happened upon her (as she was very shaken). I'm just praising God for His perfect timing.......had it been any other day of the week, we wouldn't have been in the area; and, if we had decided not to stop for snacks, we would have been going through the area before her accident and missed her. Anyway, that's our God Moment.
Do you have a God Moment to share?

Heidi - That is TOTALLY of the Lord - God is good! - When I was about 16 or 17 I was driving with my sister Rachelle to go downtown and pick up something for a snack for our family in the dead of winter and we grew up in the snowbelt area of western NY - HORRIBLE winters and wind...Anyway --- there is a HUGE and I am not kidding mountain between town and my parent's house - we had no problem going up and over it to get to town - the roads were very clear - BUT - in the short time we were shopping a storm came upon us - I was NOT thrilled to be driving in these conditions --- We made it up the hill and now - the part was coming to go down and lest I forget to give detail - the hills are very CURVY in that part of NY. --- We are headed down - slowly - yet - there is black-ice and I have NO control - there's a guard rail on one side and crossing over to the other lane - is a ditch and another hill. --- PTL - We went across the lane - sliding - with no one there - and into the ditch. The snow was incredibly deep - We were about 2 miles from home. - NO ONE was around for what seemed like a very long time - and it was Christmas eve...I start praying - my sister starts crying - a truck starts coming with 2 men in it - *Well - I was a touch concerned - 2 teenage girls out on a dark, dark night and very cold - and my Dad always put the fear of whatever in us - to be safe. --- These two men asked if they could help us - we said YES - they got us out - we were in the car the whole time - we never got out. --- As we were coming up out of the ditch - being pulled by chains with their truck - my sister went to turn around an look for them after we stopped - to see if they were done taking the chains off and such and we wanted to say thank you --- She turned around and said - "Charity, they are gone!" - I turned and they were NO WHERE to be seen. --- You could NOT have jumped out that quickly and unhooked the chain and got up that snowy hill - truck or no truck. --- I TRULY believe the Lord sent ANGELS to minister to us that night - and it's something we will never forget - and we today look for ways to minister to others as angels on earth - when there is a need such as that. - You never know who's life you will touch. - Charity

Any excuse to snack girlfriend! LOL. The new classes that you have the girls in sounds like a lot of fun. I would like to learn sign. They have a sign choir at our church and I just love watching them.
Blessings,
Lori

Oh I just love God-stories!!! I have plenty to share. I'll think of one to share and post it on my blog.
Glad Ashley has mastered dish-washing and that your finger is healing nicely.
