ARKs
This week's assignment:

This week, please share something that you do to keep the communication open between you and your husband, children, family, friends, etc. How do you keep from nagging them? ... OR ... share an idea for an ARK that we can do during this holiday season to "give" to others. I can't wait to hear what you have to share!
Much like Kris' answer, my husband leaves very early in the morning, before I am out of bed (even before the chickens are out of bed!) So, he knows that if there's something he needs for me to do, or to remind me of, he will often send me an e-mail when he gets to work in the morning (otherwise, he might forget to tell me). Also, during the day, he either calls me, or I call him, to check in and see how each other's day is going or to discuss things that we might not have time to discuss later on.
As for my kids, the older two both have blogs and I find that they both really enjoy if I leave a comment on their blogs from time to time. I like to do this in the morning, while they are still in bed, so they are suprised to see them when they wake up. Gracie also just recently got her own e-mail address, and she loves it if I shoot her an e-mail during the day. Mostly, though, because we're together all day every day, the lines of communication are very open because we're all each other has to talk to during our days at home. Also, I find that we have alot of great conversations in the van while we are travelling; as a matter of fact, Ashley and I have had some of our deepest theological discussions while in the van listening to music.
Ian and I have our special communication time at night before bed. I rock him each night but I do not rock him to sleep. I sit and hold him and sing to him and we "chat". It's just a special time for the two of us to share together and I treasure it.
I'm anxious to hear the ideas that others come up with for Random Acts of Kindness to be shown to others. We've done things like Operation Christmas Child, and volunteering for Shaohannah's Hope, but I'd like to have more ideas to bring a bit closer to home (maybe involving neighbors, etc.)
