It's A Small World After All!
Yesterday was a very nice day......
The kids and I set off for Lancaster in the morning. It was hot outside, but not quite as hot as some of the previous days; and it was very nice for driving. We went to the Rockvale Square Outlets to meet up with some friends. I met Isabelle, online, about 8 years ago - we were in the middle of our adoption of Gracie and I had posted a prayer request at Crosswalk.com (I think) - Isabelle responded to that request and we've been friends ever since. We met up in New York several years ago, but hadn't seen each other since. She was pregnant with their second child at the time (they now have 4) and we had our two girls (now we've got Ian too!) It was so wonderful to see them again, and get to spend some time with them. It's amazing what a connection you can feel with someone that you rarely ever get to see.
Funny story......I had told them about a pretzel factory we go to sometimes where you can get a factory tour and the kids get a chance to twist their own pretzel. Their boys were excited about that, so we decided to go. Unfortunately, due to the heat and humidity, they weren't actually making any pretzels yesterday, but the kids did get to twist one - which is all the fun!
Anyway, we were waiting for the tour to begin when I saw a familiar looking man - his Familyman hat kinda gave him away. Can you believe we ran into Todd Wilson?! What are the chances of us being in the same pretzel factory in Lancaster Co. (off the beaten path, no less), at the exact same time? I read his column every week in The Homeschool Minute (if you don't receive THM, please sign up using the banner at the top of my blog) and we always pick up his fun stickers at our CHAP convention. But, yesterday, I had a chance to introduce myself. What a lovely family! I see they were in Florida a few weeks ago - I only wish we had run into them there instead!
Anyway, on Saturday, we'll be heading to Hershey to spend another day with Isabelle and her family. Hopefully I'll get some pictures to share!

WOW! That is so neat! I would have loved that experience. He is such a cool guy! My hubby gets his weekly inspirational e-mails for dads!
Thanks for sharing. I must keep my eyes open more on our excurtions for people I wouldn't expect to see. Maybe you! (We aren't that far away from the places you mentioned!)

Oh! I remember Hershey! I was Ashley's age when we spent those 8 weeks in State College (1968). I loved Hershey. We went to the chocolate factory and I remember the smokestack with the H-E-R-S-H-E-Y on it. I also remember seeing for the first time those dwellings called "Row Houses" and was fascinated!
Have you ever been to Penn Caves? I remember that, too!
Have a great time!
Think of Marie and me. We go to set up for the WHO convention this afternoon. We hadn't gotten the brochures or the DVDs yet, so Gena said she sent them (I think) on Tuesday. Pray they get here today!
It's going to be fun, and I'll take pictures!

Wow! Rockvale Square and Todd Wilson all in one day! I would have been a happy camper! :) He's here for our Curriculum Fair tomorrow and Saturday.
Glad you had a good day, and have fun in Hershey!

How fun meeting up with old friends and new ones!
Todd Wilson and his beautiful family were at our Iowa Homeschool convention last weekend. He is as great in person as in type print! And his children were delightful as well.
Wishing you a great weekend,
Linda
