Interesting Weekend
Friday morning, Ashley and I set out on an adventure....we drove to Indiana! We stopped in western Ohio for a 3-hour visit with old friends (including supper!) and went on to Muncie, Indiana where we spent the night in a hotel. (May I just interject that GPS systems are insane! LOL) Our final destination would be the Gaither Studios in Alexandria, Indiana, where we planned to attend a writing seminar/workshop, hosted by Gloria Gaither and our friends from Baker-Trittin Press.
Saturday morning, we woke up early and got ready to go. While Ashley was showering, I bent over to fix the tie on the back of my shirt (it was laying on the bed) when something popped in my lower back. I've had back pain in the past, but this was the first time that my back has ever gone out of place. Ouch! I called my mom, panicking, and telling her that I was sure driving my dad's car must have jinxed me in some way (my dad has had some major back problems in his lifetime!)
Anyway, Saturday was interesting. We made it to the seminar and it was well worth the long drive to get there. Ashley got a lot of great information about writing, which she has already started putting into practice! I sat in on a wonderful session on fostering creativity, which was such a blessing. All the while, I was in major pain.
We started for home after the workshop was over and made it to eastern Ohio before stopping for a hotel. When I woke up at 2:30 am in so much pain that I couldn't even get out of bed, I was second-guessing my decision to stop, and wishing I would have driven all the way home. Let me tell you, I was crying out to God. I know Brian or my parents would have gladly come and picked us up, but how horrible for them to have to drive so far. My dad was praying for a miracle healing. I was able to sleep a bit more comfortably the rest of the night. And we got up at 6:30 and drove home today, making it in time for lunch with my family.
My back is better, but still not 100%. I am hoping I don't have to go to the chiropractor, but it may be needed. We'll see. I'm just thankful for I was able to have some relief today and that we made it home safely; it could have been so much worse.
I'll share more about the conference when I'm feeling better and more able to sit at my computer.

How horrible to have to sit and drive....and just to be, in so much pain. I am thankful that God got you home safely. It sounds like your dad's prayers for healing were heard....at least healed enough to get you home and not be quite as bad. I hope you're on the mend quickly. Go to that chiropractor.
The conference sounded great. Ashley would love that, I bet. I'll have to check to see when and where they may be more. Although, she's so swamped with college we barely see her most days. And, she takes her classes from home!
Enjoyed the MGM pics. I didn't realize they had changed their name. Last time we were there we had the place almost to ourselves. We love the Beauty and the Beast show, too, although, we didn't see it last time.
Feel better.

Oh Heidi, So sorry to hear you aren't feeling well.
I've been on trips before with my girls alone and know how anxious you can feel when things are off and no hubby is around. Glad you made it home and will be praying for God's healing for your back.
