Spirit Week - Day 1 (and introducing our house guest)
Everyone around here has the winter blues. The ladies on my message board do too. I think everyone does at this time of year. So, in order to build up some morale and have some fun, we decided to have Spirit Week this week. Today is the first day - PAJAMA DAY. Here's a picture of Gracie doing her schoolwork in her pj's. (Now, I must admit, this is Gracie's favorite school attire every day, so it's really nothing new!)
Last week, we had a guest arrive for a visit. His name is Flat Stanley, and he's quite the world traveler among homeschoolers, so I'm sure many of you have met him. Anyway, he's visiting for awhile, and we thought he might enjoy Spirit Week. Gracie wanted to make him some pajamas, but she didn't have time this morning. Be sure to tune in later this week for Crazy Hair Day!
Leah ~ Stanley is doing fine, though he might be a bit homesick for you. We'll keep him this week, then send him back. I bet you're starting to miss him!

What a great idea! I never considered doing a Spirit Week at home before, but I know my girls would love it.

Hi Heidi. It's One Blessed Mamma. My brother has permanent possession of our Flat Stanley and has taken him on some exciting excursions. Our Flat Stanley has his own blog: http://theflattestofstanleys.blogspot.com/ . You and your kids might enjoy it. My brother is not a "young earth" person, so sometimes there are references to millions of years, but you can edit or explain that to your kids. The pictures and writing are great though. His latest adventure is at the Ice Hotel.

As soon as mommy gets done commenting on her friend's blogs, we are spending the morning doing Family and Consumer Science. That is what used to be called Home Ec. My two youngest children trashed their bedrooms yesterday. I don't think they actually played in them; they just dumped every toy they have on the floor. Marissa said she couldn't breathe in her room because there is too much cat hair.
I figure we will start regular school right after lunch. David will be asleep, Marissa is studying Darwin and Beverly has decided she isn't finished learning English after all and maybe she will learn a few more letters.

We used to have so much fun with Spirit Week when I was teaching. I bet that's just what we need around here. Thanks for the inspiration!
Did Gracie ever make Stanley his PJs? I'd love to see them.

Uh, pajama day? Uh, that is a standard issue uniform at our "school"-even for teacher. :0)
