A pleasant surprise!
I love the way that God knows just what we need, when we need it! Today, right in the middle of lots of work and a few stressful situations, I got an e-mail from Amy at Crossway - telling me that I was the winner of an ESV Study Bible!
Now, I must admit that I'm rather partial to my NIV Study Bible - I received it as a gift from my Pap, on our shared birthday back in 1996. But, I do love to compare various translations when I'm really studying something. I'm not familiar with the ESV Bible, but I'm anxious to check it out for myself. And, let's face it, it's just fun to win things! (Maybe I'm on a lucky streak and will win something in the UBP too!)
So, tell me, what version of the Bible do you use? Why is it your Bible of choice?

How exciting! A lot of Bible scholars are using the ESV. It is supposed to be an excellent essentially literal translation. I use the NASB, also an essentially literal (or word-for-word) translation. My concordance goes with my NASB so I would never purchase an ESV, but I would love to win one!

Congrats! We use the NASB, because it is supposed to be a closer translation than the others. I also love, love my New Living Translation. I now really understand Romans and Corinthians well for the first time.

just checking out the ESV at the local Christian book store the other day. I've heard really good things about it. Congrats on getting this one.

Bibles... We used a few just to get a good grasp of the meaning... NIV Study Bible and the NLT Study Bible is a must I think. Hubby really like the Amplified version.
Have fun reading this new version. And if you don't enjoy as much as your NIV - you can always blessed someone who don't have a bible with it...
