Who Am I?

This week, I'd like to share one of my all-time favorite Casting Crowns songs. Wow! If this song doesn't put our humanness into perspective, I don't know what does! God is an amazing God, and WE ARE HIS! Praise His name this weekend as you contemplate this song......

Legacy

Another friend of Casting Crowns is Nicole Nordeman. She sang the following song during the Lifesong Tour and, not only did I enjoy seeing Nicole sing this song in concert, but I loved the words and the message. Are we leaving a legacy? Something to think about this weekend.....

Introducing Josh Bates (to those who don't know him)

As promised last week, I'll be spending the next several weeks sharing music from "Casting Crowns & Friends". When we attended Casting Crowns' Lifesong Tour, we were introduced to a new artist named Josh Bates. If you've never heard his music~ you're missing out! We instantly fell in love with Josh. So, we were thrilled to find out that one of his songs had been part of the soundtrack for one of our favorite movies~ Facing the Giants. This week, I share that song, along with scenes from the movie. If you still haven't seen this movie~ make it part of your plans for 2008~ you won't be disappointed.

First Weekend Worship of 2008
I realize I've been slacking on my Weekend Worship posts! Oops!
It doesn't mean I haven't been worshiping and singing~
just that I haven't posted about it!

Ashley and I have tickets to go to a Casting Crowns concert in March. The two of us went a year or two ago to see them and we just loved it! I thought, in the weeks leading up to this concert, that I would share some of my favorite Casting Crowns songs, along with some of the other artists that we've been (and will be) introduced to as a result of these concerts.
Much like another of my favorite Christian bands~ FFH~ Casting Crowns preaches a sermon within each song. This one is pretty powerful stuff:

Christmas Solitude by Steve Sensenig

I know I've already taken the time to brag up Steve's piano music in a previous edition of Weekend Worship. But, that's ok. I wanted to post this weekend specifically about his Christmas music~ featured on his cd, Christmas Solitude.

If you would like to hear some great piano renditions of some of the best Christmas songs, then click here. I know you'll want to buy the cd after you listen! Here at our house, we just listen over and over and over! Enjoy!

Cinderella

As you know, we had the great honor of seeing Steven Curtis Chapman in concert on Tuesday night (not to mention the fact that we got to go backstage and meet him afterwards!) Cinderella is a song on his new album, "This Moment"~ it's one of those songs that make me tear up when I listen to it. I have two Cinderella's at my house, and I know all too well that they grow up way too quickly. Take the time to enjoy your kids today!
This first video is of Steven addressing some adoptive families. Like Steven & Mary Beth, adoption is very near and dear to my heart as well:
Here is another version of the same song~ as it is done in concert~ with a moving video playing in the background.

You drive, I'll ride
The other day, as Ashley and I were riding in the car, listening to music,
this song (by one of my favorite groups, FFH) came on.
Immediately, I knew it was the song that I would share for
Weekend Worship.
The other day, in my BFS post, I shared about how I've really had to turn alot of my planning over to God~ obviously, His plans are bigger and better than anything that I can ever ask or imagine (even if, at the time, they don't seem to coincide with my own).
This song has such a message for me.
As a side note, the songs of FFH have spurred on many awesome conversations between Ashley and me~ each song is like a mini-sermon in and of itself.
I just love that!
I couldn't find a video or music for this week.
Please take the time to read through the lyrics.
I think you'll be blessed.
I've been in control too long
I can't be trusted
I have driven into walls
Ok I'm busted
My record is anything but clean
I've nothing left, but
Repentance and a guilty plea
I've learned my lesson
No one ever handed me the keys to my own story
I just took them for myself, ok I'm sorry
You take the wheel
I will work the radio
You take the wheel
We'll go where You want to go
You take the wheel
Take it fast, take it slow
Whatever You chose I'm fine
You drive, I'll ride
You drive, I'll ride
The road that I was on before
It was going nowhere
Now I'll kick back, enjoy the ride
The wind through my hair
The sun is hot, the air is clear
I was lost on my own
You came and picked me up out here
Now You're driving me home
The rest of my life is not left for me to write, I don't know it all
I just made it up myself and that was wrong
It's good that I don't drive
It never gets me too far
I like it on this side
This isn't even my car
You're driving with perfection
Now I've learned my lesson

I know this is a little bit early
(or alot early depending on how fast time flies for you!)
but I won't be able to post Weekend Worship on the weekend
(I'll tell you why next week! )
I just got the following video in an e-mail~
and thought I'd share this as my contribution this week.
FFH has been one of my all-time favorite Christian music groups,
so I'm just thrilled to hear about this new album:
If you love FFH like I do, then you'll be as excited as me about this new album!
If you've never heard FFH, this might just be the time to check them out~
you won't be disappointed.

Great piano music!

Last week, I introduced Weekend Worship here on my blog~ gotta "keep up with the Jones'" (or the Dixons, or whatever the case may be)! I love music~ it's definitely a passion of mine~ so this is going to be fun!
This past week, I shared about a box of "goodies" I got to review for TOS. In that box, was a cd called 'Tis So Sweet, a collection of instrumental hymns beautifully arranged and played by Steve Sensenig. Let me just tell you a little secret.......I LOVE piano music anyway, so I'm having a hard time NOT listening to this~ I want to just listen and listen and listen. Talk about some soothing, peaceful, beautiful music! (But, I'm going to shut up now, and save the rest for my review!)
In the meantime, you have just GOT to check out these cd's for yourself (he's got two more~ Ivory Worship {featuring modern praise and worship songs} and Christmas Solitude.) If you go to Steve's website~ Worship Keys~ you can even listen to samples of his music. Trust me, though, it's addicting~ once you start listening, you won't want to stop. (Recommendation: do not listen in the car while driving~ I'm afraid they're almost too calming for that!)
