...And What Happened After.
The Tale of the Great Ring, compiled by Bilbo Baggins from his own observations and the accounts of his friends. What we did in the War of the Ring as seen by the Little People."
Did you know that we have a nature blog? It's like an online nature journal. Please visit if you like nature and poetry. Please visit if you don't. : )
We found this butterfly recently and we have not been able to find out what it is called in any of our field guides. If you know what it is, then please tell us.
You must go visit the Entomologist's blog. He actually ate insects at a bug banquet this week. The pictures are amazing! Keep a bucket near you. We give him a TEN for bravery. We won't tell you what number we give him for craziness.
We like to visit a website from Africa that has webcams. If you click on a particular one, you can watch a picture being taken LIVE every 30 seconds of wild animals. We especially like the leopard cam. If you happen to see a really neat animal and click on the website to have it saved, then your name will be featured that day with the animal you captured. You need to check this site out. It is so fun. The only problem is that it is addictive. Click HERE!
A few days ago, my mom canceled our school lessons and instead, sent my brother and sisters and I on a NATURE SCAVENGER HUNT. We took a backpack, camera and snacks and were gone for two hours. This was the list of things we had to find. We had a little trouble with the birds nest but we managed to find everything. My mom graded us according to how much we found and how well we cooperated with each other. The prize was a candy bar. For us, that is a big deal because we dont get candy very often.

The purpose of this blog is to record the ideas that are
most important to us. We are two sisters who choose to go by the names of
Frodo and Legolas. You will find poems and quotes,
narrations and pictures from our favorite sources that
have inspired us to use the time that has been given to
us to the best of our ability. We hope you will enjoy
the journey there and back again....

"The value of the myth is that it
takes all the things we know and
restores to them the rich
significance which has been hidden
by the veil of familiarity . . .
By putting bread, gold, horse, apple
or the very roads into a myth,
we do not retreat from reality:
we rediscover it. As long as the
story lingers in our mind,
the real things are more themselves.
[The Lord of the Rings]
applies the treatment not only
to bread or apple but to good and evil,
to our endless perils, our anguish
and our joys. By dipping them in myth
we see them more clearly. I do not
think [Tolkien] could have done it
in any other way.
