I called our caseworker today, because we are planning to go out of town for the holiday weekend, crossing state lines. You cannot cross state lines with foster children without court permission, which takes about 2 weeks, so if we get foster kids in the next two days- no trip. So, I called her today to see if she knew what the other foster mom was thinking about those 2 kids, wondering if we might get a call tomorrow. She said she is pretty sure the foster mom is going to ask for them to be moved. But, the foster mom has not given her a written request yet, and they don't move them until there is a written request. So, they will probably be moved next week. The caseworker said to go out of town, have a good time, and she'd be in touch next week. So, now is decision time. Do we really feel that we can handle 3 kids under 3, with another one on the way? And, most likely the kids would still be here when the new baby comes, so that means 4 kids, with the oldest just turning 3. Since we've only ever had one child, how do we know if we can handle it? I do not want these kids moved again, so if we take them, we are committed. Any advice would be appreciated!
