"Stability, stability, stability. They don't have it on the inside so they crave it on the outside."
Quote from Katie Bettendorf on blog post October 30, 2007 Read the Bettendorf's blog here. (Note: I don't agree with all their opinions, but she does give food for thought. )
This made me think of Logan. He seems to need more reassurance and more advance notice of any change or deviation from routine.
My kids love to say they don't like rules, but I know it's not really true. When I was training childcare workers one of my favorite quotes was, "Rules are like fences. Kids may not like them, but they need them to keep them safe." My kids know I love them because I'm consistent and keep them safe.
My kids need lots of reassurance too. Lots of warning about transitions was more important to some than others. I didn't even know this until my biodaughter was about 4 years old, because I personally hate transitions too so I always gave lots of notice without even realizing it! (Raising your Spirited Child by Mary Sheedy Kurcinka was a great help!)
Sounds like you're doing a great job!
