Jumping on the (ball) band wagon
Seems like all the knitters out there have gotten a copy of "Mason-Dixon Knitting" and have been inspired to knit up lots of the ballband dishcoths. I think cotton dishcloths make great summer knitting - lightweight, cool, fun colors, and the yarn is really cheap!
This pattern is also a great way to learn/practice a slip stitch. I did go out and get some metal needles for these- normally I really don't like this kind of needle, but the bamboo needles and cotton yarn were not a good combo.

Saturday the FedEx truck arrived with our Sonlight order.....a big, heavy box full of books. See that big binder? Teachers manual. Yikes. It's a 36-week schedule, plus notes, discussion questions and answers for all those books you see. It also contains a study guide for the actual history texts, a series called "A Hisory of US," which we already own. The small box is a kit for ds #2's science experiments.
The microscope
and slide set for ds#1's biology course came as well, a "free"
super-sturdy tote bag (should be great for trips to the library) and
what were ds #2 & #3 most excited about? See the inside of
the big box? Yep, you can turn the box inside-out and you've got
yourself a cardboard castle. Big fun!
