Let the baking begin!
I started my holiday baking several days ago - this is my Cherry-Chocolate Biscotti. I wanted to get this done first, because some of it (along with some caramels I made tonight) will get sent off to an aunt & uncle for Christmas. Need to get that in the mail tomorrow or Friday.

If you'd like to know how to make biscotti, Janice has a great tutorial on her blog. My recipe is very similar to hers, with the addition of dried cherries and walnuts.
Here's Yultide Gnome #3 awaitng his trip to my gift exchange last night. He's holding a Starbucks gift card in his hand - I just love that Starbucks has such cute and free little holders for their gift cards during the holidays. This gift exchange is a lot of fun, and it's with a group of ladies I've known my entire married life. The tricky part is picking a gift that potentially any one of them would like- we vary widely in age, some work outside the home and some don't, and we all have a variety of interests and hobbies. Anyway, I thought this little guy would be a hit and he was - and he ended up going home with my MIL. She just loved him and even gave him a name.

I was glad she got something that made her smile - earlier this week, the little preemie that was born to her step-son passed away. I haven't posted much about him because I was afraid the parents might see it as an invasion of their privacy, but I do want to post what ended up happening, since I mentioned him earlier. The little guy was a real fighter, but his kidneys shut down and there wasn't anything they could do for him. I can only imagine how tough this is for his family, and it being the Christmas season just seems to make it rougher, if anything.
Earlier today I tried a little photo session with the boys out in the pasture...I thought it'd be fun to get a shot of them and a couple animals for the Christmas letter. It was quite a fiasco...this is what most of my shots looked like.

Everyone was trying to crowd in so they could nibble at the fake wreath I put around Cornflower's neck. (not one of my better ideas)
Tomorrow's agenda is to finish the baking, and Friday we'll be cleaning house.

But not as much as your family - such handsome boys!
Poor Cornflower, getting all roughed up for her wreath... but how cool is it that you have your own sheep? Do you have goats, too? I've always wanted a goat...
(Not that it's going to happen anytime soon in my smack in the middle of Atlanta house with it's postage-stamp sized yard... but a girl can dream, right???)
