Who Knew??

Did you know that May 14 is National Apron Day?   I didn't know it until I read it  on Randi's  blog.    I'm not sure why we need a National Apron Day, but I do love aprons.  (messy cook, what can I say)    As the In Stitches project for this month is the apron, and I had carved out a little sewing time yesterday, I decided to go ahead and try the apron pattern and I love it!!
No, I don't really do chicken chores in an apron but there are little chicks and hens on the fabric and on top of it,  Mrs. Buff Orpington here matches my apron trim!    I had planned on a more hip and funky fabric for my apron but  I really liked this print - it's called "Provence."    Here's another view.   Because I love it.

Here's my fav new package decoration atop the Mother's Day Gifts-- thanks Martha!
I hope everyone had a nice Mother's Day -- after church, we enjoyed a lovely bruch with farmer-husband's mother and grandmother.    We went to the nursery and picked out some flowers, and then went home where the boys gave me some very sweet  homemade cards.
I have a confession to make - I bought my own Mother's Day gift!
Maybe that's why I have such a goofy look on my face.   But it's pretty hard for farmer-husband to do any gift buying when he's working 100 hours a week!   I got myself a Vera Bradley bag (the "bowler") to use as a knitting bag.   I love it!   (side benefit of buying out your own gift)   And I need another bag like I need a hole in my head, but whatever.
Can't resist!    Later eldest son and my husband changed the oil in my vehicle and I did some sewing.  A very nice day indeed.          Happy Apron Day, everyone!

I Love...

Your Apron! Love the fabric. Love the pattern. I've looked through that Amy Butler book, and the apron pattern alone is tempting me! Funny you mentioned a Vera Bradley bag -- I almost did a post about VB -- they just had their big yearly seconds sale. VB is owned by two women and one of them lives in my neighborhood -- sure wish I knew her! LOL.

Neat, I did not know about Apron day! I love apron's, they remind me of my beloved great grandma that I spent a ton of time with when I was a baby 'til I was about 11 or so.

I love Vera Bradley bags!! It is soooo weird that you just bought one, because I didn't get a Vera, but I got a nice knock-off version at Kohls this weekend. I'm using it as my purse/diaperbag right now. I want another one for my knitting bag, but I don't know. My Mom has a Vera that she has practically worn out she's loved it sooooo much!! She doesn't like anything but fabric purses now, she's the one I made the booga bag for. I read online that some people just absolutely hate Vera Bradley bags with a passion, to the point where they say she's cornered the market on " ugly paisley". I was thinking to myself: build a bridge, and get over it! We all like different things, dugh!. Anyway, I'm glad you had a nice Mother's Day, and your apron looks wonderful.

The best thing about this post is your picture! I am so glad to see what you look like! You have a lovely smile and you look very happy with your purchase!

Your chicken-with-apron picture is too much! I am kind of a city-girl so this kind of thing is way out of my league! How cool are you?

Oh, your apron came out adorable!

That is one cute apron!
I don't think there's anything wrong with buying your own gift, at least you got what you wanted :)

Fancy apron!

I love the color combo on your apron - orange is my fave. And, personally, I find the addition of a friendly chicken all the better to accentuate a perfectly executed pattern.

National Aprons Day

I love the apron you made. The fabrics are absolutely beautiful! And the matching hen just cinches the whole scene.

Since learning of National Apron Day, I've considered aprons in a whole new way. I'm thinking of having a special apron to wear for collecting eggs. And for cleaning. And for hanging out wash...

XO,
Jill

I love your apron and it does so look wonderful with your chicken :)
Pretty flower toppers...better than bows. Have you see Martha's coffee filter flowers?...I would love to give those a try sometime :)

Hi there!

Loved your bag! I have some Vera Bradley bags, and each one is wonderful. I guess I'm not very astute, but I didn't know you had animals too. Wow.. what a blessing. The only fibery animals I could keep would be an angora rabbit, and hubby won't let me. I try to spin Jasper kitty's fur, but it's quite a challenge. Right now, I just content myself to purchase fiber from my local fiber shop. Enjoy the bag!
