Swap time!
My wonderful City Swap package arrived from Christina in Canada ! (no blog) She sent me a great package full of Canadian goodies. First of all, she included coffee and chocolate, which is enough to make any swap a success in my eyes! She also sent some lovely postcards, an adorable moose pot holder, a little stuffed moose, maple syrup and 2 pens! ( I have a big thing for pens. Now you all know my secret.) There were more little goodies in there as well, I loved unwrapping each one of them.

I almost forgot to include the coffe because of course I've already started drinking it:
(we won't talk about the chocolate that's missing from the picture)
I just noticed that I photographed the"French side" of the coffee canister. (I love how Canadian packaging all seems to be in English & French.) I hope all the other City Swappers have fun with their packages, too.
We had a nice Thanksgiving, and the rainy weather prevented farmer husband from doing any more tillage, so he was forced to take Friday and Saturday off. So guess what the crazy man wanted to do on Friday?? Yep, he wanted to go Christmas shopping. I guess he was in a "get it done" kind of mood. (our area isn't so heavily populated so it doesn't get as nuts as some places, but still......)
I though I'd share one of our favorite recipes for Thanksgiving and Christmas meals - cranberry relish. It's a recipe from my mil- she always made it and after I started bringing it to meals with my family, they began to request it also. It's easy and refreshing and very pretty on the plate.
Cranberry Relish
1 lb fresh cranberries
3 raw apples
1.5- 2 cups sugar
1 cup crushed pineapple
2 oranges
1/2 cup nuts chopped
Grind cranberries, apples and oranges ( plus the peeling from one orange) through coarse blade of a food grinder or in a blender. Add sugar and crushed pineapple including juice. Add nuts if desired - refirgerate. This freezes nicely!

Oh YUM!!! That cranberry relish looks fabulous -- I'm taking notes for Christmas! I'm surprised that it freezes well -- you'd think it would make it "mooshy". Thanks for sharing!!!

Wow, what a terrific city swap package you recieved! My mom loves pens too btw, and I tend to get my favorite pens lol ; )
My hubby goes Christmas shopping the day after Thanksgiving every year, way early in the morning too! I won't do it though, I hate the crowds. I avoid it almost every year.
Your cranberry salad is very pretty, looks just like something out of a cookbook! Thanks for the sweet compliments on my kauni btw : )

Great gifts from your swap partner! I stayed out of the stores after Thanksgiving, but I really need to face the crowds and get my Christmas shopping done.

(It's Christina, too lazy to "sign in" LOL)
I'm glad you loved the swap stuff. In Canada, by law we HAVE to have French and English packaging. So it's a normal existence for me.
The chocolate is fantastic, isn't it? ;-)
The only country that has better chocolate (in my eyes anyway) is Britain. But ours comes close.
