Meet Gnorman.....

Just in time for his new owner's February birthday, I finally got my act together and  Mr. Gnome was transformed from this:

to this:
(he told me his name is Gnorman.)

Speaking of gnomie things,  this was a little project I made right before  Christmas.   It really didn't turn out as  planned.....   I saw the cute little quilted coasters in this book and figured I could just make a bigger one and it could be used as a trivet.   Right?  Wrong!
I don't know why my batting squished down to nothing (I bought extra-lofty) but it was way too flat  for a hot pad, so now it's just the world's biggest coaster.

Oh well, the gnome fabric makes me smile anyway.   (Any of you quilters have any tips on how to keep batting from squishing so flat like that?)

I want to say a big thank you to Hakucho for giving me this:

It's always so nice to hear that someone enjoys my ramblings!  I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!    Coming next week - finally,  the promised  give-away of an Amy Butler pattern!

I am bidding on the pattern book for this pattern and was wondering how easy he is to make? I am just a beginner and don't want to spend 20 bucks on the pattern to find out that it is going to be too difficult to make. I really want to make some for my friends.

The gnomes are pretty easy to make. Everything is knit flat, so all you really need to know is knit and purl, make one, knit 2 together, and I think there's a couple slip, knit, pass slip stitch over. No knitting in the round. Anything you don't know how to do, you could find in a good knitting book or www.knittinghelp.com. or such. You have to seam all the parts, which I really didn't know how to do the first time, but I just winged it and it turned out fine. I wish they'd make the pattern easier for people to get their hands on.

Gnorman is really cute! I'm surprised the trivet flatten out so much.

Love Gnorman! Ya know I love the shot of him in bits and pieces in the before shot in your bag though too! Your bag is cute (bagacholic here I know, LOL!)

Never found a way to make the batting not squish when I machine quilted it either!
