It's coming!
It doesn't look like spring around here- well, except for all the bouncing babes out in the barn - and it surely doesn't feel like spring around here. And yet I know that spring is indeed on its way, if for no other reason than all the spring-cleaning blog posts that seem to be popping up everywhere!
I don't have what you'd call a schedule or a real plan for spring cleaning, instead I'm just trying to look around and see what areas need some help. Last week I took down all the curtains, washed, pressed and re-hung them. This week I've got my eye on a little de-cluttering. Yesterday I went through the boys' closets and pulled out anything that needed discarding or donating. I went to a homeschool moms meeting last night so I was able to pass on some things that were still in good shape - that's always a good feeling!
Here's the area I worked on today - it's the top of some bookshelves in our den/library/computer room.

It's a small area that I've let become a real jumble - I guess cause it's high up and not all that noticeable. Most of it is project bags, containing either wips or leftovers from FO's.
There's also a bunch of science experiment supplies in those boxes...some from this year's chemistry class, some from last year's biology class. Speaking of which, could anybody use one of these lovely items:

Seriously, if anyone needs a nice frog to dissect (for free!) I'll be glad to ship him down the road. He was part of a dissection kit I bought for oldest boy to use the end of last year. The kit came with 5 "specimens" and I really didn't think we needed to do all 5, so we've got this little guy left over. (not your everyday blog give-away, eh??)
After some dusting, putting away, throwing away, and re-arranging, these bookshelves are looking much more presentable!

Yay! Now I'll be able to indulge in some guilt-free knitting time tonight! ( I've got one monkey sock done and am itching to get the next one going. ) Hope you're all getting more spring than just spring cleaning!!
ETA: Never fear, leaving a comment will not automatically enter you in a dead-frog giveaway, ROFL!

Wow! What a transformation -- very nice! I love your wallpaper border too. Are you for hire LOL! I'm on my second monkey sock too -- I'll bet you get done before I do. And your give-away is hysterical -- you're right -- not everyday you see a dead frog giveaway. I don't want to hurt your feelings or anything, but I hope commenting doesn't put me in the "draw" ROFLOL!!!

It's always a great feeling to clean up a spot. How come then I'm not getting more spots cleaned up, LOL. Seriously - don't add my name for the frog giveaway - it makes me shudder :).
Glad you having a little free time for knitting.

All of the sun shining in the windows is making things look grimy---and cluttered. I spring clean according to when I feel like it too. Once I can't take it anymore, I tackle it!

A little straightening makes a big difference. I never really finished my decluttering project from last year. A few more closets to tackle.

I love that patriotic swap border I see in your photos; it's wonderful! Although I'm pretty good at plotting out my spring and fall heavy-duty cleaning, I've only ever made a rudimentary effort at purging things. This year I'm trying to be really strong about doing that and it is indeed somewhat liberating to have less to move about when I'm trying to dust. One thing that I've discovered that helps me is the worry that someone will have to come in my house and try to sort things out should I get so sick I have to be hospitalized. That very idea has inspired me to get myself in gear. I think it's somewhat like the old thing my mom used to say about making sure always to wear clean underwear because you never know when you might be in an accident and have to go to the hospital. Anyway, I applaud your spring tidying efforts and am now encouraged to do more myself.
P.S. Thank you but I don't think a frog is needed at my house. Maybe the science lab at your local school could use it.

Hehe - I'm glad you clarified that, I was scared to be entered - no dead frogs for me, thank you very much! I already did my dissection in 6th grade and that was enough for me =)

You are too funny :) I did have to go blah at the froggy though lol! I hated dissecting them in biology as I faintly recall. I too have been feeling the need to spring clean, I just wish the weather around here would begin to cooperate more!

I dissected a cow's eye in 6th grade and a frog in 9th grade. I had to laugh at your clarification.

I wish I could say I'd take the frog, but I don't have my dissection kit down here in Florida yet! Your lambs are adorable. Maybe someday, I'll be able to have a few... Until then, I'll vicariously enjoy yours!
