ARLINGTON, Mass. -- A high school teacher finds himself in police detention for an overly explicit anatomy demonstration.

Patrick O'Connor, 35, was arraigned Monday in Cambridge District Court on two counts of open and gross lewdness after he allegedly exposed himself to those nearby Sunday morning.

A man walking with his wife allegedly noticed O'Connor touching himself inappropriately in public and flagged down police.

As officers surveyed the residence O'Connor was staying at, they observed him allegedly expose himself again just as two women, one of them who was pushing a baby carriage, were approaching.

"Fortunatley the women that had been approaching the apartment... did not appear to see what the officer saw, so he was able to prevent them from being victims of the actual conduct," Arlington Police Chief Fred Ryan said.

Arlington Police were able to obtain an arrest warrant and take O'Connor into custody.

He was held on $1,000 bail.

O'Connor began his first year at Woburn Memorial High School last Thursday, but has coached track for some time.

"I think that this is bad for all the girls at this school," student Stephanie Detomasi said. "Like he shouldn't be here, and that's disgusting."

In a statement from Woburn Public Schools' Superintendent Dr. Carl Batchelder, O'Connor has been placed on administrative leave from his teaching and coaching positions.
