For the past 5 or 6 years my family has attended a civil war reenactment in our state (Oregon), and this year Brielle, My Cousin Maegan, our mothers, and I decided to make civil war style gowns to wear. I'm afraid I don't have any pictures of our Mom's lovely outfits but I have a few of ours. Also, If you are interested in having a Civil War Ball gown please contact Brielle. She is a bit busy at the moment ,but I'm sure she would love to create one for you. Oh, and for the record (just so no one gets mixed up) I made my dress. If you haven't already guessed, I'm the blonde girl in the straw bonnet, and cream dress with blue roses. The Reenactment was very fun, as usual. All though this time was a little more...eventful. Right after we arrived I accidently got something stuck in my eye, we tried everything and after several minutes we found the paramedics on staff (they have to have these due to the battles), Anyways, they said I should keep a cold compress on it for an hour or so. Thankfully after awhile I forgot about it, and I was healed! The Battle was very good, there was some annoying "refugees" that it could have done without ,but otherwise very well done. Later, that afternoon We were part of an...interesting fashion show. It is always fun to see dresses other women have made, and get ideas. We also walked through the respective camps (North and South), and we looked at the booths. I bought a lovely blue cameo, a lace fan, and a hat pin to hold my bonnet in place. Well, We had a lovely time ,and we met some unique people (right ,Brielle?). I just love reenactments. Love to hear from you, Rose. J |
